Big Brother Salty!

So I just started my official pony hunt on Saturday, when I joined this forum. I had been bitten by the pony bug trying to discover the perfect first pony for my sister in law. It's a dangerous slope, shopping for ponies.

I ended up buying 10 bait ponies to try my hand at this custom thing, and I bought him:

He shall be the leader my new pony herd. :)

He's traveling from Canada, so he'll be here in the next 10-14 days. I can't wait!!!

Ooooooooooooh jealous! He's a handsome hunk of a boy :D

I haven't got any boys at the moment - had them all when I was a kid. I keep looking on eBay but the prices they are going for is silly :(

They are a bit pricey, aren't they? I feel like I did alright though, I got him for $12.50. My goal is to get all of the brothers eventually. I feel like it's a good starting point- it won't be as overwhelming or take up as much room. Someday I'll have a bigger place, and then I'll go crazy with pony fever!
 
I brought my Salty from Canada too for about $12.50 AUD (10.50US).
Since he doesn't have accessories, I'll say 12.50 is reasonable but w/accessories he can be worth up to $80.00 but that price I got off My Little Pony Collectors and that price check might be wrong.
 
$12.50? Bloomin 'eck thats cheap - thats £7.56. The ones I have been following on eBay UK have been going for between £25 - £80 :( Must start looking at the US eBay - got to be worth the shipping if its that much cheaper!

ETA I've just found a UK auction for him - starting price £4.99. Watching it and will see what happens...

I kind of pounced on him as soon as I saw him. I figured $12.50 wasn't going to break me, and I love anything that has anything to do with water and boats. Keep your fingers crossed that he makes his journey safely. :)

He's in terrific condition! That's tough to find. And that's a good price, I keep seeing the big brother ponies selling for around 30$ each.

Thank you all for your kind words regarding my new pony!! I'm dying of excitement to see him in person.

So this may sound a little cheesy, but I think I've figured out what my pony goal in life will be: Collecting the big brothers, then crafting their perfect mate.

Wouldn't that be fun? I'd get the thrill of the chase to find the BBs, but then I'd have the joy of making a scruffy G3 into a vixen that would somehow share some similar characteristics.

So I bet you all can guess what my next custom project will be? That's right, Salty's dream gal!

And I'm almost done with my first custom! As soon as I get hair, I'll have pictures to post. :D

Awww he's gorgeous!

I decided to grab one on eBay too - he was in awful condition, horrendously frizzy hair, grubby, and cutie rubs, but after some work with an iron, acetone and elbow grease he's looking a lot better! Not done anything about the cuties yet, may retouch them one day. (and I may be bidding for a mint one on eBay too...)
 
I'm happy you saved a Salty! He's lucky to have found his way to your home, sounds like he really needed some TLC.
