Hey everyone! I'm an RA and my residents happen to be just as big bronys as I am. They are also super artsy, so when I showed them all the great customs I've found on here and that I've made, they decided they all wanted to customize ponies too.
I've been trying to find someplace to buy a lot/quite a few blank My Little Pony "Decorate your own pony" figures, but the Hasbro site has been exceedingly unhelpful. Do any of you know where to get a bunch of them, and preferably for not too much? Amazon has 4 for $20 so I'm trying to beat that.

Or do you think it would be easier to just buy some regular 3Gs or 4Gs and let them paint over them?

You could try looking at eBay for bait lots. One of the joys of customizing ponies is preping them. You could also try asking around to see if you can commision one of these customizers to prep baits for you or even rehair.
 
You could get some baits and let the residents decide what base colors they want, paint over in that color then let them go to town with decorating, or they can put the base coat on if they are able. Sounds like a lot of fun!
 
I was a floor president and I LOVED doing activities with my girls. This one sounds awesome!

I've found really awesome baits right here. Just check out the "for sale" forum and take your pick! I think mine were about a buck or so each.
 
Thanks for your input guys! Much appreciated. I think I'll be buying lots on ebay and letting the residents do full body repaints or try to get ponies with the base color they want. Then decide if it's worth ordering hair or if I should let them order hair themselves. You don't realize how much it takes to customize when you have to set up a materials list and budget. -.-'
We'll also be customizeing Munny dolls and rubber duckies (for the guys. ;D ) I'm so excited!
 
You should look on ebay they have lots of 17 ponies for $10
