So I've been toying with the idea of getting an animation cell from the MLP Tales cartoon. It's just something I find interesting and would like to have for my pony room.

Problem is, I have no idea whether or not what I'd be buying is real or not. I don't know anything about animation cells or that kind of thing. There seem to be lots of them on ebay, but I'm just really nervous it will turn out to be fake or something.

Does anyone have advice when it comes to purchasing one of these?

I don't think you have any reason to doubt the ones on eBay. At least, I haven't heard of any scams or anything involving faked cels. It's just a few sellers that have most of them, right? What's their feedback like? I've seen some of those cels for $6 BINs plus shipping so it wouldn't be a huge financial hit if you weren't happy with it. I'd say go for it! I've been toying with the idea myself! :satisfied:

Tales cels don't go for much, so nobody would go to the trouble really to make fakes. As mentioned check their feedback too.

I'm sure they're real- like someone said, too much work to make fakes. The animation studios used to throw them away and it was easy for people to just gather them up out of the trash (I know someone who did just that).

There used to be millions and millions of them around in the early 2000s. I think I have a folder of them somewhere... I don't know what I was thinking and would gladly sell them if I could find them. But I don't think they have much value- and many aren't really framing-worthy- they are 3/4 shots of the ponies and friends in various poses-
