Last week, on Thursday night, I was simply carrying my dog back into the bedroom. (I use a baby gate to limit his access while I sleep). I have a spot of the bare bamboo floors that is about 2' by 14". Everything else has rugs or carpet. My foot hit the small bare space and slid right out from under me. I landed on my side/back against the door frame then plopped down on my tush. I managed to crack my rib. Does anyone know how long this is going to hurt? I managed to protect my head, so no concussion, but I have never had a cracked rib before.

oh no maybe you need to go see a doctor :/ that sounds like it would hurt. I fell too but on ice outside thankfully I just have a bruise and I fell on my knees but it still hurt.

My aunt fell out of bed on her floor at a angle and she cracked her rib. There nothing I know you can do to like set it but she said it took about 6 weeks to heal. But she was really sore and hurting for about 2 or 3 weeks. You might want to see a doctor. She got pain pills but I know some people just take aspirin or extra strength Tylenol. I think they did wrap it at the doctor office as well but I cant say for sure. But I do know it was 6 week before it healed.
She said she iced it and had to sleep on her back. She said sleeping on her back help her rib not hurt so much when she slept.

I fell outside several times... my rear is a little bruised, but I'm padded enough back there to be ok.

6 weeks! Ugh! I didn't see my doctor, just got an X-Ray. I have a terrible time getting a ride anywhere when my daughter is in school and the weather is nice. Luckily my doctor understands. Since I'm all my daughter has I don't take pain meds. Ice and showers help. I usually sleep on my back, but the crack is right at the back of the curve of the third rib from the bottom on the right. Honestly... there is no good position. :( My doctor initially said a month, but, being a single mom means I don't really get to rest. It's gotten worse. Visibly. My doctor said that as long as I'm not having internal issues and the rib feels whole when I run a hand along it, to just "get some rest already!" My dad's helping me out now and hey I don't have to wear a bra anytime soon. :p Everything has an upside, right? Oh, and my dog has only left my side for potty breaks.

Another treatment I know my Aunt did beside Ice was a heating pad on low or Medium. I don't think Tylenol would hurt but that just me. I hope what little I remember from my aunt helps.

As for a bra I don't were one at all lol I bind my chest just a funny thing to add to hopefully give you a laugh and lighten the mood alittle

Oh Ask your doctor about something called Bio Freeze It a gel that is cooling. I used it on my food in 2015 when I fractured it. It help so much cause icing it hurt it was just so cold. I think it is call bio freeze I know you can get it in the store. It might help if you don't want to take any pain meds,

Don't feel too bad I have sprang both ankle many times fracture my foot twice, torn cartilage in my knee. Sprang both my knee more time then I can count sprang my wrist thumb middle finger ( that one could get a person in trouble with out a splint on it lol). I have hit my head so many times its not funny.
Needless to say I am accident prone so I feel you on hurting yourself

I tripped over my dog Monday and fell into a lamp a wall and a closet. My knee is all messed up so I really really feel your pain but sadly I am used to it.

The thing was I did'nt want to fall on my bum. Because I hurt my back while exercising like days ago from that period. I was very grateful that I didn't land on it. My back would of hurt worse. I put out my back maybe 5 years ago. It was my lower back I did the splits on the kitchen floor almost. The floor was very slippery even though I had shoes on. I had to go to the chiropractor I dont know of any in the area I am in now. I dont think I could go either we are tight on money and that kind of work is payed out of pocket. :/ I dont think I have coverage for that.

Chiropractic is ridiculously expensive. I have scoliosis and a previous lower back injury. Chiropractic and massage are all that helps.

I know what you mean they get the $$

I almost went to school to become a massage therapist.

My sister goes to chiropractor every two weeks she says it helps but the noise the bones makes is disturbing.

It took me over a month to get over rib injuries. Sorry to heart it. I fell recently also and have been slow in the healing process myself.

I was so bored yesterday that I was playing dress up. I still fit in my prom dress from 18 years ago! I also brushed all my ponies again. Tomorrow I start the mh dolls.

that sounds neat. :) I cant fit my wedding dress for a good reason I weighed more in it. I weigh less now. :) However I kinda let myself slip a little I need to go back on the daily exercise train.

Klutz again. My daughter got the gene. She broke her little toe this morning. Poor kiddo!

Oh nooo ouchie! Wishing her a speedy recovery.

oh great another ouchie I hope your daughter is ok. I did another one I slipped on the ice again and hit my leg it left a nice purple bruise. I also had a lump there that went down thankfully.

It's so much worse seeing her hurt than dealing with my own. We also don't have any ice anymore. She went over the side of the loveseat and it got caught and snapped sideways on the way down. Do you think she'll finally stop going over the sides of furniture like I ask?

I doubt that she will :/ that explanation you gave made me mentally say ouch.

Oh gosh one day I was upstairs and there is an area up there where all of the down stairs plumbing is. So, they raised the flooring in one spot. People trip on the step up all the time. One day I was trying to clean and jammed my second toe right in that raised flooring. It broke the toe. That sucker hurt so bad. I had a Popsicle stick on it and wrapped it good, but man it took a while to heal.

I have accidents all the time, but my Oscar winning accident is when all by myself I managed to knock the outside trash can over, stepped in the lid which caused it to spin, I went flying cause I lost me balance. Next thing I know I am on the ground. I hurt myself pretty bad and the worst part was it was all in front of the neighbors. Then my other performance was a bicycle ride with R2. R2 decides to not pay attention and runs right into my bike because, I stopped for cross traffic. When R2 hit my bike I flew up in the air and up over the bike into the street in front of oncoming traffic. Needless to say after that set of injuries I said, "no" to riding bikes with him again.
