I went to my first Brony meetup on Saturday and had a ball! I'm pretty sure I was the oldest one there (but not by much - there were some 25-year-olds there, I think) but I still made out alright.

I brought along my Styling Twilight Sparkle and, of course, my well-loved Lofty. The guys saw their first G1 and thought that she was pretty cool. Doin' it Old School! ;)

I'm meeting up with a couple of the friends I made sometime this week. One of them inherited what he thought was a bunch of G3s from a friend - but it turns out that they're all G1s! I'm gonna help him ID them. I'm also bringing along that bag of G3s I've been getting and restoring. My new friends are more than welcomed to take all they like. I think they're gonna be happy with the couple of G3 Pinkie Pies I have.

It's kind of fun being an older Pegasister. I'm showing them all of the little things from older gens that are hidden in G4. It's a whole new world of references for them!

LOL. I'm a middle-aged Pegasister, myself. Just yesterday I was browsing the pony aisle in Target with my 4-year-old daughter. (She and I watch FiM together.) When we arrived there was already a 30-something woman there. She had two ponies in her arms already and was still shopping for another. LOL! I watched her for a few seconds and said to my daughter, "She likes ponies, too." Hee hee. Turns out the woman had an almost-4-year-old daughter, herself. She also told me she'd loved My Little Pony when she was growing up, and now watches the show with her own daughter. LOL!

So that's why we've not seen you around much here, you're hanging out in Real Life more now! Cool that the meet went well, and it is pretty cool to find out some of the pre-G4 refs going on in the show. I know I still miss a lot of 'em.

Hitting the MLP Fair last year was kind of amusing for me in a similar way. There were a ton of early-gen fans of course, and the bronies were pretty easy to spot in the crowd. But venders kept sympathetically asking me if I'd been dragged there by my wife/girlfriend/mistress/concubine, which made me laugh. Watching their expressions go through a few different phases when I said "Nope, I'm here for myself" was entertaining too.

I have been 'Converting' Bronies as well! I'm part of the Minnesota Brony Facebook (And Skype) group, and they refer to me as the 'Expert on past gens' XD. I point out the similar stuff from FiM and G1, and if they come across an older gen pony they come to me to get it ID'd.

I've gotten quite a few interested in G1 and we've had 2 fairly successful G1 Movie Marathons so far via synchtube, Taking the very best episodes and marathoning them. Last one ran about 6 hours!!!

You know that is so awesome you thought to bring an oldie over.. A lot of bronies I seen can be real rude about the original designs! Not anime looking enough. They don't know cute when they see it!

Anyway,

Doesn't help one of my more flamboyant fans of his most favourite movies as a child was one of the G1 tapes.. (he let my friends and I watch it, the tape was ancient!!)

I always love stories like this... show those Bronies the power of G1 ponies! ^^ I even try, as a big brother pony, to always show them the awesomeness of earlier generations! ^^
