Hello,(I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place!)

I'm working on a black unicorn and I'm really stuck on how to do the eyes. Ponies always have a black eye rim and eyelashes, but that obviously won't work on an all black pony! So what do you smart people think I should do? Should I do them a different color, like the mane or horn color (gold) or just try to make a gray or dark blue that might show up? Has anyone used fake eyelashes like the G1 Princess ponies have?

Just thought some of you might have done black ponies yourselves and have some good tips!

I've never done a black pony, but I'd probably go with the gold that you've already said you're using for the rest of it.
However, the creativity process also means that you can do anything you want too. I don't think you should feel any colour is wrong, whichever way you go. I'm sure some others will be able to help more and tell you what they did in a much more helpful fashion. :)

Build up kind of a "glowing aura" around the eyes so the eye lashes have something to stand out against.

Here's an example of one I've done recently:

Thanks for your ideas so far guys! I just wondered if the gold might look really weird, but maybe I could just paint some pony faces on paper to experiment and find the right color combo. I like the glowing aura idea too,it's really cool, but I'm not too talented with a brush,so I might just end up with more mess than aura, lol!

Does anyone have any tips for painting eyelashes? Mine always end up thick and awkward looking, not pretty like I want!

For lashes you start out with a wash of light-colored pigments and build up to dark~

All painting requires several several layers of built up paint. Typically start off light and build to dark pigments~
