Customizing Ponyville

I might be buying a lot of ponyvilles one of which is in need of rescuing. I'm thinking of giving her a complete makeover, but I could use some advice.

  • Has anyone ever customized a ponyville figure?

  • What paint would you recommend for hair/symbols ect?

  • Would you seal it with something and if so, what?
I often use nail polish for painted craft projects because I have so many colours and it dries quick and smooth. Do you think I could use that or would the nail polish react badly with the plastic?

Hindsight has done a ton of ponyville customs... as a few other people have... No one recommends using nail polish for painting -any- sort of custom.. I would assume the same holds true for ponyvilles. I believe that acrylic paints and mod podge as the sealer would work well for ponyvilles as they do for regular customs as well.

Yup, acrylic paint is your best bet and a sealant is also a good idea. Nail polish is likely to just chip off.

I've done quite a few Ponyville customs that are on my DA account if you're interested (link in my sig.)

What substance is good for stripping paint off ponyville figures? I tried nail polish remover and it barely made a dent. I don't want to ruin the plastic, so I'm concerned about using pure acetone.

100% pure acetone will take the symbols/eye paint and some marks off of a pony without damaging the plastic. I've used it on all gens and McD's and Ponyvilles plastic without any problems.
