Schedule and Player
A) Looking for new players since we had some drop due scheduling.

B)Our current schedule is currently one post a week through Discord including our rolls.

Welcome Adventurer!

Do you enjoy ponies from a variety of genres? Have you always wanted to be a pony (or companion) and go on adventures with your friends? Well, you're in luck! It seems some odd occurrences have been happening across the Pony universe and it needs help from some brave explorers that wish to save it.

Rough Idea
This will be a D&D campaign done through text and rolls. Once the campaign is ready and characters are created I will have a separate thread just for the text portion of the campaign. I know in some respects this might make the campaign run slower as we wait on everyone to take a turn, but it will also allow the game to run asynchronously and others can join in the fun. This means we won't have to schedule certain days to play or anything of that sort and can keep going as everyone takes their turn. We are not ready just yet to begin and when we are I will start the thread to begin the adventure. Everyone will have the opportunity to introduce your characters to everyone, I will set the starting stage for the adventure and we will proceed forward. Think of this as a combination of text based role playing with dice rolls, so a text D&D adventure.

Getting Started
Lets discuss how to get started if you're interested in participating in the adventure.
1. Just jump into the chat here and let us know you would like to participate
2. Start brainstorming a character that you can use that will be helpful in the party. Think of what type of pony (or pony friend) you would like to create (selecting your race) and what type of role they might play in the adventure (class). These will all be formed into the world of D&D so we will have classes based on the D&D options and substitute races (example a human would be an earth pony and an elf would be a unicorn).
3. Create your character on D&D Beyond and join the campaign (instructions below) if you need help I'm open to scheduling times to assist everyone. I'm new to D&D (so if you're new don't let that hold you back. we are all learning together) and the wonderful @Twinkle-eye has kindly offered to co-host and help. This is a great advantage with a seasoned player. Between the two of us we should be able to answer any questions you have.
4. Once you've created your character, joined the campaign, come up with a backstory of your character and maybe an introduction you would like to post once the main thread is up. I would like everyone to introduce their characters of course before we start on this wild adventure.

D&D Beyond

Having an account on D&D Beyond is free, and it will allow us to roll along with having monster encounters on the server. Here are some helpful links.

Races
Human=Earth Pony
Elf = Unicorn
Aarakocra = Pegasus

If you want to create a mixture, a sea pony, or a pony companion/friend let me know what you're thinking and we can pick the appropriate race to match the stats you would want

Campaign Join Link
I'm still setting up but once you're character is ready feel free to join the campaign

Time Frame
I'm currently working on setting up our first adventure and maps for said adventure. A pony collector/artist has been kind enough to allow the use of her world map, but I need to work on individual maps for the areas we will encounter. That being said I want to help everyone make the characters they wish to use, so I'm currently offering to sit and walk you through the process of creating your character when you need help. I'm mostly available on weekends and some throughout the week. Please let me know if you need my help! I'm more than happy to do it.

I'll add more as we progress and questions arise. Also, keep in mind that things should stay appropriate for the forums.

I'm interested but very green lol

I'd personally prefer Discord
although I'd like to text vs broadcasting audio on my end, as I live with other people who prefer audio privacy

If that isn't possible then I can't join. otherwise I'm more than happy to listen and text play!

I’m not just super experienced so I don’t think that will be a problem. Lol, you’re Minty green. ..sorry such a bad joke but couldn’t help it.

I’m also a Discord person so that’s not an issue on my end.

This is a cool idea, I know absolutely nothing about how d and d works though ^^;

I’ve not been a DM really before and @Mintyeon is new to the game too. If you’re interested and don’t mind playing with others that are just kinda figuring it out too.

Ooh, I'm interested! I've only played two tabletop games before. One in person and one over Skype. Doing a game with ponies would be so much fun!

This should be a good deal of fun. It looks like we have three players interested so far. Just one or two more and I think the party will work.

Like I said this is my first time being a DM past just a little basic game and totally first time homebrew experience.

I did want to ask what generations are some of everyone’s favorite. I want to incorporate some classic things from the different pony lands into the game.

Is it alright if I follow along to see how this works? I know absolutely nothing about D & D (besides the movie that recently came out), but I've always wanted to see how it works.

@OctoberMoon
I have no problem with you observing. Just you know keep in mind it seems we’re all mostly novice players so things might be bumpy here or there. If no one else is worried about an observer it doesn’t bother me, but I don’t want to speak for everyone.

@Mintyeon @Stellaluna
I’m going to do a little background research to make sure I’m caught up with G3, but I’m totally fine using them as that was part of my sister’s pony age. Who doesn’t love a good pair of socks after all!

@my little pony collector
I completely understand. If you are interested right now I’m looking at just doing one session a month on the weekend. Would you be interested or possibly able with that sort of time frame?

Couple things for everyone
-I’m going to work on setting up a Discord chat tomorrow if everyone would like me to move in that direction.

-would a weekend day work for everyone to do a game session? Usually game sessions can be an hour to a several depending on what we all have time for. I’m not in a rush to hurry through the story so if we go at a slow pace especially since we’re all learning I’m fine.

-I still want to see if we can at least have a group of 4-5. But would everyone be up for us scheduling a day to just discuss characters and how to set them up through D&D beyond?

Also if anyone has any specific questions I’m up for answering them or finding answers the best I can.

I made a Discord today for the group, but I’m still reading a few things about how to set up stuff on there. I will be sending out the link to the chat to everyone this week when I have it a little more set up.

Looking forward to it!

As far as G3 goes, it's pretty similar to G1 except ponies live in a very simplistic town with thier own homes rather than all in one place (the castle or paradise estate). I think that's the main difference. I also don't remember there being a villian or threat in g3, but that gives you plenty of opportunity to make something up! :)

Thank you, I’m a little new to Discord so finding a way to set it up and get a few basic things in before I invite everyone.

I actually sat and watched several G3 movies today because I didn’t remember how everything was set up in Ponyville. I did however find a map someone created that combines multiple generations worlds in one big one. I think something like that might be a good starting way to incorporate multiple generations and a larger map playing field overall.

I’m thinking we can do a first starter quest once we have the characters ready and decide when to start our first game. Just an introduction quest to see how everyone enjoys it and then maybe move into a bigger threat. Using multiple generations should give me show element options to mix with new ideas of threats and monsters etc I think.

I'm very, very interested! Experienced player, fledgling dm on my end, so I might be able to help with game questions if they crop up.

That would be amazing! Totally excited to have someone with experience join. I will probably ask you questions to start, but I’ll do my best to not give away too much since I of course want you to have fun and surprises too.

I’m off work Friday so I’ll wrap up the intro of the Discord by then and pm everyone with a link for it.

Any game aspects or anything anyone wants to discuss while we prepare?

Saturday Sept second for an hour in the evening is currently our set time to discuss characters and D&D Beyond.

If anyone wants to join wr still have room and time. If you guys want to discuss some of your character ideas etc

@Stellaluna
@cowbrain
@OctoberMoon
@Mintyeon

Checking to see when would be a good time for everyone heading into Oct to do an afternoon for an hour or so of character planning to then lead into our first game. I’m mostly booked on Saturdays right now with pride events but Sundays are open or even some Saturday evenings
