Did I buy Fakies?

I bought two G3 ponies today, Jazz Matazz and Sweetberry, and I got them home, and noticed that their magnet feet were white, and seemingly not magnetic.

Their hair is also very fine, and sort of cheap feeling, and the year on their feet says 2002, which I think was before G3s were even made.

I'm not sad if they are fake, because they're very cute, but I'm very curious about it.

Cheers!

do you have pics?

girl...you bought fakies...jazzmatazz was waaaaay after 2002...sorry. can you post pics?

I can't post pics right now, but I'll try to later.

I don't really mind that they're fake. They look so cute, and I partly collect just to admire them.

Some ponies were produced without a magnet and with a white cover where the magnet should have been. Sweetberry version 2 from the Sleepover Dreams set and Jazz Matazz version 2 from the Popcorn Fun set were part of that group =)

The year on a pony's foot is when the MOLD was made, not the pony. The year on the foot and the year of production have nothing to do with one another.

I've noticed too sometimes the feeling of the hair varies with my G3's. Some of my family dollar G3's seem cheaper. But they are still MLP's.

Fascinating. The only thing that's still throwing me off is that I was pretty sure 2003 was when they started releasing G3s, not 2002?

Releasing, yes, but product development would have been in the works before - the molds could have been finalized/copyrighted in 2002 easily, but only sold starting 2003.

I think you bought the real deal. They are more than likely reproductions after they stopped using the magnets. The hole in the foot was still in the mold, so they used those other things to fill them. Besides, if you could ID them, that is a point scored for the real deal. ;)

Yeah I believe on G1s the flat foots say '82 even though they didn't make it to stores until '83 (...or w/e XD I can never remember the year lol)
