Did you ever want a pony back?

i think about that with lost childhood ponies. i sure would like sweet lily again. but there were some duplicates i sold before knowing more about ponies. i had a few different poseys not knowing she can come in many color tulips shades and hair shades. dumb me.

Yeah I sold off a whole bunch of ponies last year when I needed some cash - boy do I regret that now....

Yes. About a year back, a 'donated' my minty starshine to a 3 yr. old...only problem with her was that she wouldn't stand on her own. I really want her back, now. She was such a jewel. perfect hair and all...:( T.T

never sold any :p

I have a few fakies that I regret giving to my sister when I was a lot younger that I wouldn't mind having back now, but other than that, I've never sold or given away any ponies that were important to me, so no! I think I'm very lucky, though. There must be so many people who have had to sell for financial reasons, or had childhood ponies given away ... I am glad I have so few regrets with my collection!

Skimble

I have felt that way... A few months ago my monetary situation was pretty bad so I had to sell a portion of my collection (including rares and some childhood favorites) *sigh*

I don't want any back that I have sold... however, I'm finding it incredibly tempting to keep one of the ponies I got for my partner for the holiday swap.

Lol xD

That's why i made sure i bought a pony that I knew I personally wouldn't be sorely tempted to shiftily place on my pony shelf :p

Thats like all my childhood toys, they were either sold, or mom gave them to my younger cousins.
Along with my sister's toys cause we were the oldest. Where's Emmitt Brown & a time machine when you need one. But i've learned from the past and non of Robyn's toys are going away(maybe storage but not into other's hands. My sister found a Mint sprit like the one i had, for $2 @ a yardsale, I told her to wrap it up for xmas. Robyn will love him.

I haven't really sold any ponies. Any extras that I get I give to my niece. Although I wish that my Mom didn't sell my childhood ones. Also, before I started collecting G3's, I would buy them for my niece as birthday and Christmas presents. Now I do collect them, and she has a few that I bought her that I am looking to get for my own collection. Now I think to myself...."Why didn't I just buy two Kiwi Tarts?" lol

That exact scenario is what got me into collecting in the first place. I sold my plushie Blossom when I was about 14 at a garage sale and regretted it almost immediatly. But it took me another 10 years to actually do something about it.

When I first started collecting G1's (as an adult), I bought a Moondancer only because she seemed to be a popular pony that "everyone" had. I wasn't too crazy about her at the time, but I just got her only because I thought I "needed" her for my collection. But then when a co-worker told me that she had Moondancer when she was a child, I decided to give her the Moondancer from my collection for her birthday (I thought I wasn't going to miss Moondancer), to hopefully help her to bring back her childhood memories.

And then after I gave her away, a strange thing happened... I MISSED Moondancer. I actually wanted Moondancer for my collection. I regretted that I gave her away... And then every time I saw my Baby Moondancer, I was so sad that she was mommyless. :(

Fortunately, Moondancer is not hard to find, so after a little while, I got another Moondancer for my collection. And then I was happy again. :) And now I actually like Moondancer. :)

But yeah, it's funny... I didn't realize how much I would miss a pony until it was gone...

Oh yeah, I do wish I had some ponies back.

I had a HUGE collection as a kid. When I was 13 or so, I gave them to my 7 year-old niece to play with because she was a good and nice kid. She took awesome care of them. She knew that I'd want them back, so we made a deal that when I was 21, I would ask for them back.

A year later, her house burned down. My collection of over 400 ponies...gone.

Since then, sure, I've let a pony or two go that I wish that I had kept, but I guess I liked eating and putting gas in my car a little more at the time. :)

Seriously, though, it all ebbs and flows. If I miss a pony, I'll get it again. Call it Pony Karma. :D

i did a couple of trades in the beginning of my collectiong and i am now looking to buy those ponies again:

happy glow
alphabittle

i got good ponies in return but i like those too :D

I have done in the past, but the awesome thing about ponies is that you can usually find another one! It may take a while, but that's all part of the fun :p

There are several instances where I really miss ponies I had-

First- My childhood collection which were 600+ with many that are now rares including ten MIB/MIP TE's. SS's and TAFs. Plus I had Two of the Romance Ponies, all of the sea AND baby sea ponies. A Paradise estate, dream castle, pretty parlor, perfume boutique, and lullaby nursery. These were all put in a storage unit and here's the sad part...While I went to go visit my grandparents at the time, my so-called 'friend' claims he 'forgot' to pay for the unit and neglected to tell me until I got home and said "Oh yeah, the place threw your stuff away last week for not paying the rent' And he said he'd do it! I remember I started crying because those I had been collecting since the 80's!!! And he had the nerve to say "Well, they were just toys, sheesh you are so stupid to cry over kiddy toys." And then I found out almost a YEAR later he had given a lot of my ponies away, sold them on e-bay and threw the rest away!! OMG! Needless to say, that made me stop talking to him...and I still refuse to. Grrrr! :cussing:

The second time I had worked my way up to 50 ponies and that was sadly also when I lost my 2nd attempt at collecting ponies
And this time they were stolen again...this time by my ex's sister and she gave them to her daughter who tore them apart and lost half of them...ugh :(

So here I am again for the 3rd time, 3rd attempt and I've been slowly collecting. I'm having to watch how much I spend though. I won a couple off e bay last week and am buying a few more this coming week so maybe this time around will be okay. :hide:

Anyway, that's my sad story and yes I wish I could get my whole collections back!

yeap, sales, trades, mom giving toys out, ourselves or even accidents hehe i feel im not alone and you guys netheir, ponies will come and go
but something that made me think so much is the burning story from iamtoby, I was crying cause wanted some back when I needed money. but that one really made me feel bad about her.

I remember a few ponies I thought I wouldn't care about, so I cut them up and painted them and just destroyed them. One of them was Powder, then Amberlocks. Do I ever see them anywhere? No. T_T
