G1 Displaying Seaponies?

Here is my solution for them!

"You can use really any thin, clear, flexible plastic from packaging material for this (though some packing plastics may yellow over time). Just cut rectangles of the desired height so that it stops just under the floatie, wrap into a cylinder that fits well enough that it hugs the pony, and secure with a piece of clear packing tape."
This also works if you don't have any floaties. Just cut the rectangle a little wider (taller) and the pony will still stand up in it.

that's really clever! I love the snowflake patterns too, it does look like bubbles!
But how do they stand without floaties in the tubing?

If the cylinder hugs them a little (not too tight, don't want to crease a line into them) and is the right height I find they stand up fine.

That is really cute and clever! It ends up looking so nice! It's so rare that I eat candy though.

Thank you! I rarely eat candy, too, but I do hoard a lot of strange junk that I might be able to craft into other things. Thin plastic that's good for sea pony stands is in allll kinds of other packaging, especially toys with window boxes. Plastic beverage bottles that have a flat place under the label could be cut apart and taped back into cylinders, and then it would be easy to dot bubbles on with acrylic paint if you wanted.

That is such a pretty solution!!

Omg ive totally gatta do this!! thank you for the tip!

Wasn't building suspense I swear LOL the pony room has been the drop zone for christmas gifts and now that everything is wrapped and under the tree I can actually get in there without tripping over anything LOL

So my display is acrylic shelves with holes cut in them. *please disregard the dust*

I glued a small square of trim along the front edge of one of the shelves. placed some aquarium backdrop paper on the back and sides. Then took beach sand and added some glitter to it (you can't really see the glitter in the pics but it sparkles here and there), then I got a piece of drift wood and cut it to just fit to make the "riser" for my adult sea ponies. Then I got 2 pieces of acrylic sheet and cut them to the same size as a shelf and drilled holes in them just large enough for the pony to sit in but not fall through. I plan on running some strip lights along the inside just to make it pop but haven't gotten that far yet (even though it's been like 3-4 years). I do flip the acrylic shelves the beginning of each year so they don't get too saggy and that's when I dust them too. Hence the bit of sag and dust you may notice, it's almost time for their annual bit of maintenance ;)

Oh yeah, these look awesome! But it looks like it relies on their floaties, and I'm with the OP on having a baby sea pony without a floatie. But top notch display, for sure.

It is cute too how, in a way, the acrylic kinda looks like the surface of the water so it kinda has this neat "just under the water there are many more sea ponies" effect haha. We'll just pretend that the two layers of acrylic are actually just a perspective trick and there's not a water surface on top of the other. ;)

Oh wow...! That is fancy! :surprisepony: Really cool job! You really put a lot of work into that, and it's super impressive! :lolpony::ponylove:

If only there was some way for the acrylic not to sag, but... oh well. Amazing!

This is SO nice! I love the scenery you've made with the backgrounds and such! They are nicely spread out and not on top of one another either.

As someone mentioned above, do you need the floaties in order to keep them in their holes? I may do something like this, take a clear spice rack and drill holes if they stay without slipping through without the floaties

That is a gorgeous display Gingerbread! I'm in love with it.

Wowwww! It's beautiful!! I would love to spread out my bebbies in an acrylic display like that but I have promised to allow the guest room to stay a guest room so all but a few ponies in there live in a wooden cabinet with doors, lol. Someday I might steal your idea, though, and make some acrylic shelves! I have access to a laser cutter which can do acrylic, and if the holes are sized right I'm sure ponies without floaties would not fall through.
