Do you sometimes rename your ponies?

Blushy for example. Sometimes the names just...don't sit right with me, so I'll find them new ones. Does anyone else do this?

I do it all the time! Especially if I have more than one of a particular Pony, then they all need unique names, so I dub them all something different.

Totally! It took me a long time to stop calling Lemon Treats by the childhood name I gave her - Lemon Cake. Proper pony names are definitely useful for ID'ing, but they're a little more special when they have a name you've given them.

Ahh yes. When I was younger, my friend, who had lost interest in MLP, gave me a G3 Blossomforth. At the time, I had no idea about the many reference sites available out there, so naturally, my younger sister and I gave her a name. I think it was the cutie mark, but somehow we gave her the name Flower Power.

Oddly enough, that was the only pony I named as a child.

Haha yes!!

When I was little I called baby wiggles - "baby bookworm" lol
I have no idea why I honestly thought that was her name~

My BB Wigwam- I just call him "Wiggum"~
BnG Bouquet- I call her "Bonnets"
My BB Steamer- reminds me of a "Derek"
and my movie edition Firefly reminds me of a "Lyndsey"

lol the people-type names I wonder if I'm picking up on
someone' energy from a particular pony (?)
That's one thing I do like about MLP collecting...
children have the best energy, happy and natural.
These kids spent a lot of time with their toys, fun memories..
So every pony I get I *always* think "Wonder who loved you before me?"

That's an interesting thought Moonwillow. You very well may be picking up on it.
I only had one BB Salty, I thought it was a dumb name as a kid tbh so I called him Tugboat.
I had a cool pink pony with this sort of molded on saddle or blanket with flowers on it Cassie.
I call my Whistle Wishes Dream Cloud
I call my Water Fire, Fire Water because I guess the Fire's on top and half the time I can't remember.
I need to think of names for Twinkle Hope and Blushy, because...no.

I think I renamed most of my G1 ponies. I called Tropical Breeze "Flamingo". I forget what I renamed Puddles and Peeks. I know it was something bird themed. I even gave names to the nameless Petite Ponies. I remember naming the one with the pizza slice Pepperoni. I renamed a lot of my other non-MLP toys like my Maple Town figures.

I always knew the official names of my ponies when I was little, so I never renamed them. The only one that I didn't know the name of was Swirly Whirly, as she was the first pony that I ever got. I don't quite remember what I ended up calling her instead, but it was probably Ice Cream (yes, I know, how original). I did get a lot of ponies from my best friend when she emigrated, and a few of those she didn't know the proper names of, so I ended up using the names that she gave them until I found out what they were actually called. Like TE Sweet Stuff was Jelly Tots.

Well, since I didn't have proper MLP growing up and started collecting as a well-researched adult, I don't really give them names. EXCEPT for Baby Stockings, whom I call Holly Stockings, I guess to set her apart from regular MO Stockings, who *creepy voice* one day will be mine, hehehe.

Ahem. I do, however, come up with nicknames on occasion. Sadly, right now I only remember one. My custom user title, Baby Golden Age of Ballooning, is my pet name for Sparkle Baby Gusty, since balloons, and I got her during a major Monty Python kick.

I grew up with g3, and the only one I ever renamed was my g3 Butterscotch, whose name I changed to Bravery, and also changed to a boy. I never had any authentic stallions, so I had "Bravery" and 3 fakies.

I memorized their real names like the intensely autistic child I was; deviation was not in my programming. I do know one pony, my plush Parasol, was affectionately called "Parry". I still have rather vague, but colorful, memories of my paternal grandfather -- himself named Perry -- "talking through" the pony and playfully teasing me about things like mayonnaise. I must've really disliked mayonnaise back then or something.

Also, when I found the pink symbol-less Ember at a flea market, I was so confused that I drew a cutie mark on her with permanent marker and decided to call her "Amber". Very original, I know.

The only ones I can tink of was when my sister got TE Galaxy and I got TE Sweetstuff. I decided that Sweetstuff looked like a boy, with her strong facial features and being blue and all:LOL: So we swapped their names, cause Sweetstuff is too girly for a boy, and I gave 'him' a brush cut hairstyle to add to the persona I had in my head. Why my mother thought it OK for us to play with scissors is beyond me.........
I didn't change any other names, just also decided Sunlight was a boy, but the name is unisex so it stayed:winkpony:

When I was a kid, usually the only ponies who kept their original names were ponies I knew from the TV Show like Gusty. The others, it was up for grabs. As I mentioned in my introduction post, my Dad when he played with me renamed "Baby Cuddles" to "Tuna Fish." I still don't know why but I suspect it had to do with her color reminding him of the sea.

My favorite pony that I owned as a little girl was Baby Noddins who I renamed "Grape." She was always the princess in my make believe adventures. My mom used to bring me her junk jewelry and I would use her fancy rings as a crown for my royal ponies. Looking back, I remember her letting me use her good rings once or twice. I guess my mom just knew I wouldn't lose them:)

I remember having a baby boy pony, I think his real name was Baby Ribbs but I called him Spike because he had a purple dragon on his flank. I also remember giving all the baby ponies individual names, saying they would "inherit" them when they became teens. I actually kept that in my fanfiction, LOL. I also remember saying the summer wing and windy wing ponies were the children of the flutter ponies...

I call Cherries Jubilee Cherry.

Have nicknames for some, but won't go into it as I hope to one day make custom ponies!

The only pony that I've ever renamed was my G3 Lily Lightly. I don't really know why, but it's probably due to the fact that 1. I know a Lily who let's just say... I dislike. And also because I never really liked ponies with "human" names. So I renamed her... Well actually I'm still deciding on what to name her :winkpony: But I know I want something kind of cosmic...

Yes! I especially did when I was little, and I still do!
Mostly because the pony's names can get a little strange... (Looking at you, Tiddlywink and Tra-La-La!)
