I just discovered my October BF has ity bity black spots all over her face! They're so small I didn't even see them until I held her up sooooo close. Is it pin-dot mold? I don't remember her having it last time I looked at her, but I can't recall if I held her that close....HELP!

It does sound like it is pin dot mould. To be sure, here is a good link

http://www3.telus.net/leinhorn/faq/cancer.html

You can soak her with bleach, then remove the dots with either a pin or acetone nail varnish remover as recommended in the link above or spray the affected area with mould and mildew remover, leave it for a while and then pick the dots off with pin/remove with acetone nail varnish remover.

If it is pin dot mould, please treat it asap, as it will infect the rest of your collection if left untreated. :(

Thanks! I'm trying the bleach/use a needle thing now. Here's a pic :(

I would say that is pin dot mould.

Garej is right (as she usually is!)

I generally just boil mine in Oxyclean, after beheading them; I've never had it return after that. My Icey had it really bad, too.

I used a *lot* of Oxy though, LOL - I mean, it's ICE CRYSTAL after all!

:( Careful with the bleach - it yellows some white ponies.

I've got a question pertaining to pindot mold and figured I'd add to this instead of starting a new thread...but okay here goes. In regards to 'pony cancer' the brown dots that boy ponies attract; I know boiling kills it- but what if its on the outside of the pony. I've got one with it and on the inside-clean as the day he came off card. The spots are from the outside. I poured boiling water over the affected spots, but does anyone think that will be enough to stop future growth?
