So as some of you already know a mlp related movie is on the way,it's about twilight sparkle traveling to a diffrent demension where she turns into a monster high-esq teen girl and must retrieve a crown that was stolen from the crystal empire with the help of other teens who resemble the rest of the mane 6, while attending high school.what you may not know is that digiplex and cineplex theaters have picked it up for a theatrical run.my question is will you go see this in theaters?i know i definately WON'T!

I'm tentatively in favor. It looks cute, we'll see what happens when it comes out, or when we get more information.

I don't like the way their skin is the colour of their fur. I'm glad it doesn't interfere with FIM in anyway, and if the plots good I'll like it, but I don't think I will see it in theatres unless hasbro show it over here. Ill probably have to look it up on YouTube.

I'm not even sure if they're gonna show it in the theatres here, but even if they do I have no interest what so ever in watching it.

I love My Little Pony because they are ponies. This whole thing with humans have no appeal to me what so ever.

They look terrible. Not watching this anytime soon.

It's coming out on DVD, too, but they're going to do a very limited release in the theaters in the US too. It's also going to come out with a bunch of toys as well, such as dolls, hair accessories and doll/pony combos.

There's been a thread about EqG already here and it got super heated, so I hope this time things can be kept civil.

I'd love to go down to CT and go see it in theaters, as being able to review it for DhN would be awesome, but it's about 3 hours away from me and not that feasible.

I'd watch it if it were on TV, but there's no way I'd shell out movie theater prices to watch it. Sorry, Hasbro. I just don't find that sort of stuff appealing. To me, it'll always be My Little Pony.

I might borrow the DVD from my library when it comes out. But I'm not going to pay money to see in theaters. I'm more interested to see what the dolls will look like.

Well it probably won't be in cinemas in Australia... I'm gonna give it a chance though. The only thing that I really don't like about Equestria Girls is that their skin colours are the same as their coat colours :madpony:
I'm interested in the toys though.

I think this is a monumental mistake on Hasbro's part. I'm almost tempted to see it during cheap time just to witness how bad it is for myself. However, I also think people should vote with their wallets on this. If Hasbro loses their shirt on this endeavor, they'll abandon it.

It's not just the designs that get me. The story sounds like an excuse for Twilight to have high school antics. Why is she going to retrieve a Crystal Empire relic instead of Cadence and/or Shining Armor? Why is she enrolling at a high school? This is was just not well thought out and blatant catering to teen/tween girls. As I and many others have said, if Hasbro wants to appeal to the teen/tween girl demographic they should have revived Jem and the Holograms.

The one bright side I see in this is that people will look back on the 1986 movie more fondly after this.

I don't love it. I probably won't buy any dolls from it, but some kids might enjoy the movie/line, so...

Really, my only opinion on it is that it seems odd. I can see why Hasbro would want to get into the human doll market with MLP again, but I'd rather they had a totally different human character like Megan/Molly. Maybe bring them back? Then again, that would probably make fans of the show mad. So really, they're going to cause drama either way. But in the end, it all comes down to money. New line of dolls = money for Hasbro. If you seriously want to put an end to this, just boycott Equestira Girls. I really don't care if the line continues or not, as long as it doesn't effect the release of ponies.

I'll watch it on youtube I won't pay anything for this. Those character models are horrific! They could have used fanart that looked better!

I guess I'm in the minority.... I'm actually looking forward to this more than regular MLP:FIM

Well, considering I don't really go to the movies anyhow. . .
I'll probably give this nonsense a try when it comes out on DVD and I can rent it.

However, I am very interested in how these toys are going to turn out. But what piques my interested even more is how Hasbro will market these dolls. It was already mentioned on the last Equestria Girls thread how most girls at this age range avoid the "pink aisle" in stores.
This is the age range that is often into looking at the jewelry/accessory aisle rather than the glorious toy aisle . Teens are looking for what is "cool" and trendy, and while Ponies are trendy enough to be sold in Hot Topic I really can't see these dolls being sold there.

If Hasbro could get so these thing are sold in stores similar to Claire's or Limited Too, then maybe the EG toys stand a chance reaching their age demographic. If not. . . well, I think this could be a flop.

Sorry for sound so marketing minded. :p

This is one of the worst things since newborn cuties in my opinion the first thing related to Friendship is Magic I'm actually ashamed and embarrassed about. I will not pay money to see it I will stream it online once it's up somewhere though just to see what it is about, they have so much potential in a movie and to waste it on this... sad day...

They could have done a prequel called My Little Pony Equestrian's Past or something.. staring Princess Celestia and Luna, them growing up together, what happened to their parents, how they got power, facing Discord, the troubles they overcame together and how they grew to power. And ending with Celestia banishing Nightmare Moon into the Moon, leading right up to the pilot of Friendship is Magic.

Meh, it's mlp, so I'll probably go :\ anyways, it can't be THAT bad, right?

Right?

What saddens me is that some people won't even give it a shot. Why all the hate?

I was adamantly against FiM because the ponies didn't even look like ponies to me, so I didn't want to watch it because of that. Wasn't my old-look ponies I used to enjoy.

But I watched, and I'm hooked now.

I just think... don't knock it until you've tried it. It may be awesome, and it may not be. Who knows?
