I honestly don't see what's so bad about my little pony fakies. I know that, for hard-core collectors, it can get annoying seeing them everywhere, but it's not like they're hurting us, or Hasbro. (Hasbro is still the leading brand; the "Phony ponies" aren't changing that).
I grew up with lots of fakies, but it didn't change how I used my imagination. It may have even helped, since I could make up my own characters out of the nameless fakies (nothing against Hasbro; Their characters are fine). My point is, even though we're collectors, we have to remember that ponies are designed for children, who could care less whether a pony was made from a leading company or not. We should know more than anyone that my little ponies can be pretty expensive, whereas you can get some pretty well-made fakies for a much more reasonable price. Anyway, prefer both real MLPs and fakes, and I just think that we should stop all this fakie hate. No one's forcing us to buy them, and we know how to tell if a pony is fake or not, so these phonies aren't harming us at all.

Just wanted to put that out there. :unicorn:

Who's hating on fakies? lol
There are many people on these boards who collect and love fakies.
I myself have several Dollar Store fakies that I adore.
If anything there is more hate for the new Hasbro ponies than any fakies I've seen.

There are quite a few people who don't like fakies actually. Frankly I'll take just about anything that has hooves and is multi-colored. :D

I love fakies. Love them. I'm a fakie-aholic! Sometimes it's just nice seeing something different... yet the same, you know? They make for great custom practice too haha. But I agree with you on it stimulating the imagination more. Habro's ponies are wonderful and all, but sometimes having no name and no set personality behind them is awesome.

I love spotting fakies of the same mould as Hasbro ponies too. It amuses me.

I collect the DG newborn fakies as well as MLP - I adore them :D

I've only got about 4 to go until I have one of every colour and I also have a few other assortd fakies I've picked up along the way.

I don't collect fakies but I don't hate them either. I had a few when i was a little girl.
I used to spend my pocket money on the most outrageously ugly fake ponies at car boot sales when I was small XD! And they all lived in harmony with my real MLPs!

One of my favourite childhood ponies was a really weird looking fakey. It looked SO fake and cheap, and was all squishy. It was a unicorn, except it actually looked like a pink donkey with a stubby horn and string hair. I decided it was a gay boy and had a crush on Applejack (who i thought was also a boy...Jack = boy's name!)

My nan's dog ate his squishy head when he went senile D:

God, I miss that fakie!

Also I really want Princess Rinse n Spit.

I like some fakies. Some are cool, some nah.. :p

One of my favourite ponies is a fakie, not the best looking pony but I loved her(still do!) because she glowed in the dark.

I don't collect fakies but I don't have a problem with them.
I would just like to say (because I saw the other thread) that Greek ponies were NOT fakies and that EL Greco was the Greek company who was working with Hasbro and was producing toys from their line for Greece.

I don't collect fakies, but I don't hate them. I have too many ponies as it is to be gathering fakies too.

I don't hate fakies. In fact, the most treasured of all my ponies is a Totsy fakie. Why is she my favorite you ask....well because she is the one pony that I had as a kid that I still own today. For some reason, she made into my grandparent's attic, so she was not sold off with the rest of my ponies. I even collect other totsy fakies so she doesn't feel so alone in my herd. :)

I guess fakies are ok...

When i joined here i hated fakies... threw them at people... now i find myself liking them and have gained around 20 fakies... **** fakies and their cuteness >.>

Same here. It's funny, I was recently tossing up whether or not to buy fakies when I go pony hunting... but I decided that seeing as I don't actively collect them, they're just taking up space. I had some fakies as a little girl too, and they played and lived with my MLP... I remember being pretty much just as excited to go home with a fakie than with a real MLP - I even PREFERRED baby fakies to the real thing.

So I agree that there's nothing wrong with fakies... however, if people dislike them that's totally fine in my opinion. I mean, it's ok to openly dislike BBE babies... ballerina ponies... G3.5... isn't it? Each to their own.

Here are my babies - I grabbed a shot of them today :D Now I just need to fill in the gaps with the last few I need ;)

AW Princess Locket that is SUCH a cute shot!! I have two of the purple ones I found at the Dollar General when I was about 12. Mine never had a mane or tail, poor things.

Some fakies are adorable!

Some are just...disturbing

This lady is my absolute favorite fakie. Wigwam is the king of ponies and leader of my herd but his fakie wife has always been by his side as queen. Here she is

No! She is not dusturbing!!!! lol. This pony looks exactly like the one pony I have left from childhood. Hahahaha.

As for the fakie babies...they are just so darned cute. I have been trying not to buy them, but I think I might just give in soon. lol

Thanks :D Their cuteness is addictive I picked up a few and then before I knew it I had a little army. And they're also great when your pony budget is running low my whole collection only cost about $20 and often a G1 can cost that much :)

I don't hate fakies. When I grew up I owned fakies only, several of them. Back then it didn't matter. As people have previously said, plastic ponies are made for kids and the brand doesn't matter one bit.

Nowadays I'm not too fond of fakies (except my own of course :p), because the vast majority are just poorly made and not as cute as MLP. If they actually look good, then I like them! The Lanard fakies for example, those with one hoof in a different colour than the other three, they're cute. (Picture earlier in thread.) I even admire some fakies because they look so good/so much like real MLP.

It's not like I'm mad because Hasbro are losing the market to others or something, but I get a little mad when the fakies look like the person designing them has never ever seen a horse, or they're all squishy and rubbery. If it's screaming "lack of effort" at a mile's distance, then frankly I will be annoyed. That goes for some things Hasbro has come up with as well... :p
