Fashion Style Derpy Hooves / Ditzy-Doo 2012 SDCC (and Fair??) exclusive

Really? This will be the MLP Fair "exclusive" pony (to be shared with Comic Con...)? don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to somehow getting my hands on FS Derp/Ditz, hopefully via hasbro toy shoppe after SDCC, but I like the truly exclusive, original, arty nature of the previous fair ponies.

I concur with this sentiment precisely.

This also limits the distribution of this figure, when a basic FS Ditzy Doo should have been mass produced for the general public, not sold as an SDCC exclusive (in my humble opinion).

I totally agree, but the mass produced ponies' target audience is little girls who may or may not be fans of the show. When I was little I just collected ponies; never watched the show. Some of the little girls who buy the G4 MLPs may not watch the show, and some of those who do might not understand Derpy Hooves/Ditzy Doo. Especially the eyes. Also, some people might find that offensive, like they find the Derpy on the show offensive. The main audience of Derpy is bronies and collectors like us, so that might be where the Comic Con and MLP Fair (assuming she is being sold at the Fair) come into play a little better. So they're targeting a more specific fanbase this way. But I agree with you because people like me who can't make it to either event will have a harder time getting a hold of her. I think they could do like a pre-sell at the Comic Con and MLP Fair, and release her to the public later.

That makes sense, but then again it doesn't entirely make sense.

I'm kind of put off by the way the brony/adult fans are treated by the writers and mostly Hasbro. The writers allegedly stated publicly that they're not recognizing the bronies/adult fans, yet the bronies/adults are the ones who pointed out and made a character of Ditzy Doo. So, okay, they ARE recognizing the adult fans. Maybe. Then Hasbro does this same stuff by refusing to accept the adult fan base, but now that Ditzy Doo is a fairly major background pony (remember that HUGE part in the beginning of "The Last Roundup" where Ditzy Doo ruins town hall?) I think it's about time to give her a toy line and not just limit her to an SDCC pony considering her massive fan base. It's even more confusing considering the toys are supposed to be based off the show, yet characters we never hear about in the show have product while Ditzy Doo is somewhere between being shunned and being embraced. I think what I really want is for them to just decide whether they're embracing Ditzy Doo or treating her like a mistake. I don't really care which, I just want them to choose a side. 'Cause I just can't figure them out when it comes to her character.

You're right. It seems like they want her to be a character, but yet again they don't. I figured after The Last Roundup they'd make her a more official character, but we haven't seen her since. On the other hand, maybe making a toy is a step toward finally calling her a character. Or if it doesn't go over well they might shun her entirely. They also need to get her name straight. I say Derpy, you say Ditzy. Hasbro's being a little wishy-washy. It's awful hard to make sense about something that makes no sense. If that made sense.

Wait... we're getting the same exclusive for the fair? I wasn't aware of this. I agree DBM, I really liked the artsy con exclusives. They were unique. I have very mixed feelings about this now.

take a look at the first post in this thread. There's a new link to an article( that was also linked to from the MLP fair facebook page). So... Yeah, looks that way at this point, unless there's a misunderstanding somewhere.

Woah woah woah, this seems like something awesome, and reading all these comments make my head spin. I really wish they would make her into a toy sold in stores, perhaps they could just remove the "derp" eyes and call her Ditzy...? I'll still buy it...

Her name in the show is Ditzy Doo. The name the fandom gave her before she was a legit background pony is Derpy Hooves. They're the same pony. ^_^

Ditzy Doo = Derpy Hooves. Derpy Hooves = Ditzy Doo.

I love her, and her eyes! Has anyone ever done SDCC pre-orders before? I'm a little wary about it, but I really want to ensure that I get one of these!

Let's not assume anything until Sweet Tune tells us otherwise :)

Fair/ Comic Con pony 2012

Did not see a topic yet on this so posted it up what do you guys think about her?

Taken from the My little pony fair page on facebook

"Popcandy over at USA Today revealed this year's limited edition Fair pony which we will be sharing with Comic Con. Fair addtendees will we get a chance to get her a week earlier than that the Comic Con release. To read more about this awesome pony, check out the full article: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/popcandy/post/2012/05/exclusive-preview-the-2012-special-edition-my-little-pony/1#.T8ZtPNWKJYQ"

Alright, I picked a seller with 100% feedback and went with it. Here's hoping I get a Derpy after SDCC!

If I do somehow get my hands on her, I think she'll be my first NRFB pony. She's cute and all, it's just that her eyes will drive me crazy! The look is fine on the show, but I don't like it on a toy pony (ex. Princess Luna)

Though That leads me to wonder... Would people unfamiliar with the show think their Ditzy is a factory error with messed up eyes?

Ditzy Doo = Derpy Hooves. Derpy Hooves = Ditzy Doo.

Actually, she's been referred to as both in the show. In Winter Wrap Up, Rainbow Dash yells at an unseen pony named Ditzy Doo, but in The Last Roundup, Dash calls her Derpy. She was associated with the name Ditzy Doo, but when she officially entered the show as a speaking character, she was directly called Derpy. But the fans/bronies use both names, so they have become synonymous.

My daughters and I will wait for the playful pony sized version that will inevitably come out eventually, but I will be at Comic Con this year and may try to pick up a few of these to offer up as trades. It might bet tricky though. I am working at the show, so won't be able to go queue for toys, and I fully expect the Hasbro exclusives line to be as insane this year as it always has been in past shows, so it may prove impossible.

So, I wont take orders from folks because I may not be able to fulfill them. Instead, if I am lucky enough to secure any, I'll offer them up after the show.

I know it's really late to be saying this but ....couldn't agree more, just realized I hadn't looked up the SDCC exclusive for this year and was terribly disappointed when I saw ...this

I much prefer the beautiful G1-style true exclusives. If they keep going this trend, it's put an end to my collecting as I'm one of those who truly can't stand the G4 style...apologies to fans (and no disrepect) but to me they just looked like poorly done anime...I've never cared for that style of animation..

I have a standing order with an old penpal of mine who goes to the SDCC every year, I'm actually hoping I can get in touch with him in time NOT to end up with this...if I do, I'll sell it to the first taker...
