I've been missing FS AJ for my collection for a while now, but was in NO way interested in coughing up $100-$140 for her, which seemed to be her going rate. That was a few months ago, and lately I'm starting to see her being listed and selling for a bit less. The going rate seems to be around $75-$80 now, MIB or not. Has anyone else noticed this trend?
My question is this: How well do we all think these girls will hold their values? Do they inevitably always drop? Even though AJ still isn't available in stores, it's interesting to see her value dropping a bit, and more and more of her seem to be available for sale, where as I could just about never find her for sale before.
Rarelestia seems to be the latest expensive rare pony. I've wanted one myself, but when she first popped up she was being sold for around $100 on the boards, and $130 on ebay/etc. Now I see her going for around $65-$80 (Granted, there is always the exception; but I like to base value off of the lowest going price you can get them most commonly for). I purchased wingless RD a while back as well, for $50, which appears to be her steady going rate. I actually saw her go for $60 the other day, and although I've even seen people ask $90 for her, they never sell. Was there a time when she was worth more than $50, when she first appeared?
So, do we think the same will happen with Rarelestia? Will her price eventually drop once the 'new toy' glitz wears off, and most of the people that wanted her, have her?
Last example: Flutter ponies with their orginal wings. When I first started collecting them, I would regularly see them sell for $45-50. I am a regular stalker of these items as I'm trying to collect all of them; and I see the price has dropped dramatically. They frequently now sell for between $25 to $35; and remember we're talking about with their original wings.

Nothing wrong of course if you want her right now and are willing to spend to do so. I collect for the joy of it and yes, I have paid $50+ for a loose original winged flutter in the past (before those awesome replica wings were sold on ebay and dropped the prices of original wings) I don't regret it, I got to own and enjoy those ponies sooner!
