G2 G2 Eye Gem replacement

I know this question gets asked every few years, but now there’s a hitch it seems. Generally the answer is Swarovski, but in the last year or two, they made the decision that crafters are diluting the brand or something equally rude, and don’t supply crystals like that anymore.

Honestly I didn’t think the originals were that high-fallutin anyhow, but still. Does anyone have any new ideas, or willing and able to experiment and get back to us?

The original gems definitely weren't Swavorski, although they would be a beautiful replacement. IMO your every day, run-of-the-mill acrylic craft gems would work just fine. They sell them at craft stores like Joann Fabric. Or you can easily find them online because people use them for fingernail art these days. You'd just need to figure out the right millimeter size.

Edit: There are also a million craft gems sold on Aliexpress, some acrylic and some glass.

The guide will might come in handy for dupes, but I worry those eBay prices are just gonna go up as we fight with nail techs and other crafters for the last ones.

I didn’t realize they stopped selling those…. Really silly reason imo, people should be able to use your product for whatever needs they bought it for -_- … Like some others have said craft gems should work fine if they’re small enough. Worth noting the gem eyes on the g2s I own are approximately 3 millimeters (though I haven’t needed to replace any of those eyes so I might be a bit off)

Yeah I don’t really craft or do nails but I do watch other peoples videos about some of that stuff, and I first learned about it in a video and a woman was doing her resin Sailor Moon models that she usually decorates them with Swarovski at the end. And she mentioned she wasn’t sure what to do for the rest of the series now because they were being discontinued for regular Joe schmoes.

Some high-end brands do that. I only know from a video about the house of Gucci situation that they decided to do that at one point, and stop licensing the brand so willy-nilly because they thought it was diluting the brand.
