I know the general consensus is that male and female G2s are identical in every way, but I just acquired my first two: Clever Clover and Cupcake. And right away, I noticed a difference. Clover has one row of plugs. Cupcake...has two. I only own these two. Can anyone confirm with other G2s?

Also, Cupcake has a...like...metal dot on her snout. What's it for? Can I cover it? She has bite marks, so I'll be covering those.

EDIT: Also, Cupcake has curlier feathering on her hooves than Clover has. But that might just be her.

About the male pony differences, I don't know, sorry. I just assumed they were male because the back card said so, or because of their names (Princes, or Junior).

About Cupcake, the metal dot is a magnet. She came with a cake that "magically rose up" when you touched it with her snout - or at least, that's what I remember from the commercials, since I don't actually have her. I think it's perfectly okay to cover it, though. ;)

I don't have any G2's on hand (at work, lol!), but the curliness of the feathers doesn't mean anything. It was just the way the mold was made. Every pony in that mold is like that.

I don't have access to my G2s either (in storage while I move!) but Clever Clover was one of the very first G2s released (like wave 1), while Cupcake was released a year later (wave 2). The release date could have something to do with the rows of hair plugs. From my old pictures, it looks like all original 5 released perhaps only have one plug row and the later releases have 2.

I could be wrong- my pics aren't great!

I just grabbed my Clever Clover and Sky Skimmer G2's and both of mine are identical (minus the pose, and colors). Both have 2 rows of mane plugs and I'm assuming both were released the same year (they both have 1997 Hasbro Inc) under one front hoof.

There's no physical way to distinguish male from female G2's other than what is said on their backcards. Clever clover, Prince dragonfly and all other prince's are male purely because the card said so lol. Unlike with the G1's where there was an obvious difference, i don't believe there is one on the G2's. I have quite a few and i can't see any differences lol.

cupcake can use her maget for something with a cake. i don't actually have that version of her myself, but she has a cake that came with her and well yes she can open it or something.

the curls are like that on all the ponies in those poses, the mold is the same for those.

and for the hair thing, i can't actually check my ponies, but i guess the ponies in the same pose as cupcake has the same hair, and the ponies in the clever clover pose the same hair as him.

:)

The magnet on the noses actually had paint on them. But I found that the paint would chip off and sometimes the magnet would disintegrate completely.
