Hmmm...I don't know that anyone's ever done this quite the way I did. Apologies because I'm too dumb to think of taking pictures, but...
I have this G3 Minty I from Goodwill who had the NASTIEST tinsel I have ever seen! In addition to that, her hair was entirely white!
So I Googled around for tutorials for repinking and tinsel and I found the common ones (RIT dye, long process involving dryer sheets), but I'm poor as sin. So I decided to try things with what I had.
Yesterday, I went overboard with the dryer sheets on all my tinsel ponies...helped most of them tremendously, just that alone. Wet dryer sheets on dry manes until they stood up shock straight. After that, I let them sit for a good long while, then slowly and carefully shampooed them, one by one, then rinsed and conditioned them in cold water...one by one...then I left them for a good while. Finally came back and rinsed them all out well. It helped most of them, but Minty was still a sad sight.
So I gave up on her tinsel for a bit and instead today decided to repink her with all I had--a packet of Kool-Aid and conditioner. Instead of following the instructions, I used the entire packet, a good amount of conditioner, and a little water. Stirred it for a bit, got annoyed, and just started pouring it on and distributing it with my fingers. Made sure to keep it off of her, of course!
It looked like a terrible murder scene because the mixture was the consistency and colour of blood! So I left her for about an hour and then came back to rinse her out...
The result? Her hair is now a perfect shade of pink! NOT ONLY THAT, but her tinsel has improved!
I was pleasantly surprised. Thoughts?
