Hi, I'm a new addition to this site and to G4 collecting... I recently found out about Taobao and wanted to get other opinons on the site. Has anyone else bought from this site, what were your experiences, can anyone recommend a good agent?

I especially like G4 prototypes and it looks like it would be cheaper than ebay...I guess I'm asking is it too go to be true?

I haven't figured out how to find them on that site. I must be having a ditzy doo moment(s). Just figured it out LOL OMG there are so many ponies I want *squees*.

I'm still yet to figure out how to order from taobao, so ill be interested to know if anyone else has!

I think from what I have figured out so far you 1) Need to know someone in China to be able to order (since they only use Alipay *Which is equiv to paypal in the states etc*) and then they repack and ship to you if you are not in China. 2) Can use a special service agent (which is iffy I guess because they charge you a percent to order it, they receive it, they repack it, they ship it etc).

I googled how to order from Taobao after my boyfriend tried to order stuff for me. Was hilarious he was screaming I can't read chinese! I was sending him links. I saw a ton of stuff I want but ah well. I am kinda nervous about using an agent and I do not have any friends in China :(

Yep, you have to use an agent usually...wouldn't be worthwhile to get an agent for a pony, I suppose.

A lot of what's on there are dealers...and some of them have their own websites. Taobao's like a big marketplace, is all. I haven't looked too deeply into that to see how ordering from another website would go though.

I know I'd have to buy in bulk, but maybe I could get some international exclusives too. Besides, I'd like a SDCC derpy that isn't in a box. ( other than blind bags most of my G4s are still boxed as I just can't bring myself to open most of them especially Derpy).

Also, my boyfriend is totally obsessed with the anime Slayers and wants me to get him some stuff off that site.

I'm going to look into it more and I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks

Re:

I've bought quite abit from Taobao and it's always been a good experience to me.

I use the agent site: taobaonow.com and it's really easy to work with, the people who help you are very nice and trustworthy.

So I definitly recommend getting an account on that site if you want to buy from Taobao :)

Edit: Also, there's no need to order in bulk. At least not by using taobaonow.com. All you do is paste the link to the pony/ponies you're interested in, give them a description of which pony it is you want (Say you want a pinkie pie in a lot of all mane 6 you just say you want the pink pony with pink hair and baloon symbol) and they contact the seller for you and get a quote on that pony and shipping for you.

About how much was shipping from them? I know they have the 10% service fee, but the additional shipping charge after the repackaging has me a little leary. :katmeow:
I'm looking to snag a SDCC Derpy and Nightmare Moon, but I don't wanna go overboard with how much I spend (Hence not buying them from eBay lol!)

Starblaze -

You should check around on Toys R Us website for the Nightmare Moon don't buy it off ebay. My TRU has gobs left over and you may be able to get them delivered from another store. Then just sell off the other ponies you do not want. You can make your money back pretty easily off DJ Pon-3, Flower Wishes, and Lemony Gems.

Here is the link they have Free store pick up and free shipping by the looks of it with a free MLP Microphone thingy going on: My Little Pony Favorite Collection Featuring Nightmare Moon - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us

Oh dear, the last time I bought from Taobao was about 4-5 months ago and can't remember the exact shipping cost. But it was around the same as it usually costs for me to have a pony shipped from the US to Sweden.
