G5 G5 Chatter

I'm definitely in the camp reserving judgement. The flat faces definitely throw me off, and it looks like they're going for a sort of pixar-esque animation style which I really don't like, but they seem to surprise me with every new thing they make. I really thought I wouldn't like Equestria Girls either, but its more wholesome tone and great characterization has ended up with me not only loving EG as a whole, but a bit obsessed with Sunset Shimmer.

Heck having grown up on G3 I thought I wouldn't even like G4, yet here we are.

I'm hopeful I'll end up liking a few of the characters, it looks from the merch like Pipp might be a singer? "Singing Star Pipp Petals" - So right now she's the one I've got the most hope for.

I watched a great review by Tailrustedtealeaf on YouTube, for the Crystal Adventure ponies. She showed that their heads, at least, can be easily popped off and on. I can swap heads I'm slightly more okay with, and make myself a couple of customs. Even if they don't have actual hair. :rolleyespony:

Green Guard, you will be mine!

I'm leaning into the new gen, but I might have a different perspective than many on here as someone who grew up with G3 but actually fell in love with MLP thanks to G4 and MLP:FiM. What really got me into the franchise at first was the characters, not the toys, and the animation/visual design/toy design was a second thought for me.

Right now I really love most of the new G5 designs just for their color and symbol choices; I end up looking past the visuals in the end (I've watched some abysmally-animated cartoons in the past so I think my judgement is very low-bar LOL). It might look different, but for me it stills "feels" very MLP!

G5's Pixar-like direction and the 3D in general don't exactly get me excited, but I'm excited for the new gen regardless and see the animation as just a natural development considering the direction of animation in general over the years.

That's good to hear! I was worried for a second that customizers got shirked by the new moulds.

Well I mean, I can swap heads that don't bother me so much, with bodies it seems and painting them up. I was thinking of putting a better earth pony head, and unicorn head on the Pipp n Zipp bodies, to make some nice pegasus/winged unicorns. Speaking of, I thought they mentioned winged unicorns in the movie summary? Where are they?

So, some one had to follow me home from Wal-Mart tonight...

They only had her & the playset that comes with her. Anyone know if the brushables any bigger? Hopefully we'll get a bigger selection soon.
Congratulations Tsuki. Great multi-gen photo.

So the ponies still get littler even past G4? When will they become My Little Pony in My Pocket?
I still quite like the moulded hair figures. Seeing the comparison, I think I like even more

Whoa, what? They're even smaller now?! It's just like all of the memes were saying TuT;;; MLP toys will shrink out of existence if they keep going.

Someone on the arena said that Izzy Moonbow's hair is made of polypropylene. Hard pass! I wish Hasbro would stick with nylon. :sleepy:

What’s the difference with nylon and polypropylene? I’m not clued up on materials much
Is it less softer?

Gimme a minute. @StormMaeker

I dunno why exactly it does this, but its very prone to dry rotting with age. People discovered that its responsible for the infamous avon pony hair breaking off at the root.
This explains so much about my G4’s inconsistent tail quality. Always knew it was a different material than the hair but never understood why it was so prone to becoming so frizzy. Rotting would explain that. And those started getting bad within my first year of having them just because I would brush them a lot. And they’re using it for G5’s hair in general?

Wow, this is all new to me! That's kind of worrying and if certain G3's have it, I'll try not to worry about mine

By 'Avon ponies' is this a nickname or did the makeup company somehow get in on the pony action? Time to learn something new

The makeup company sometimes had toy exclusives, I assume the appeal is that kids could get something they wanted from the store while waiting for their parent or older sibling to pick out their makeup.

They're pretty much the same as store exclusives. I'm unsure if they have store exclusives in other countries, come to think of it.

Oh, man, that's not good. And here I was looking at some polypropylene hair for one of the customs I would like to make, thinking the shine could work well for the overall design of the pony. Now I'm kinda sad, but I'm glad to know now rather than find out later.

And this makes me glad I don't collect G4 brushables. :I I got the pirate set to have the characters in the reboot style and that's it. But that's still really unfortunate... At least the G5 molded hair looks really nice, we're not getting a repeat of Twilight's miniature hair disaster from the old blind bags.
