Glue spot and crimped hair question

Hello everyone, I am currently going through my childhood collection and cleaning everyone up. I have found a couple of ponies with a little spot that I think might be glue. I've tried picking it off, but it seems pretty stubborn and I'm afraid to try too hard. I know I used to occasionally put hair products in like gel or hairspray and am wondering if that's what it is. I would think that would come off easily though. Did they ever come from the factory with something like that? What would be the best way to get it off, or should I just leave it alone?

Also, some of them were put into storage with hairbands and braids in, and the hair seems permanently crimped now. What would be the best way to get that out? Flat iron?

Other than that, I am having a lot of fun bringing everyone out again and seeing what great shape they are in! My daughter's having a lot of fun seeing my old ponies, too. :smilepony:

Thanks for your help!

As for the glue, are you talking of G1s or G3s? I've seen glue in a lot of my G3s, and I don't think I've been able to remove it. You may try with nail polish remover or hot water.

Regarding the hair, usually just washing it and adding a lot of conditioner and brushing it while the conditioner is still in, and then rinsing it does the trick for me. Otherwise you may still wanna try a flat iron on the lowest setting and while the hair is wet (be very careful with this, you don't want to burn the pony's hair!)

They are G1's. Thanks for the tips! Some of them have triple braided tails and may have been done when they were wet, so you can imagine! I will try to wash & condition again and see how it goes.

This is very similar to what PT told you, but I'll tell you exactly what I've done with tight braids and very wavy hair. With tightly braided tails I've found that undoing the braids, then washing and conditioning in water as hot as you can stand, combing them out, then putting in conditioner and letting them sit for 20 minutes before washing the conditioner out makes the hair straight again. I've never had this trick fail me yet.

Now, if the hair is still crimped after all the above a flat iron will probably work.

Like star flare I use super hot water. :) Works wonders at removing the kinks left from braids.

i flat-iron almost every pony i get except those with really supersoft factorycurls
