Guys….is it just me or…

I’m excited to see the Takara too!
The year…yeah I just kinda wrote random numbers and went with it
I wish I would’ve went to the meet that I signed up for so many years ago because it was one of the first ones and literally there’s only a few people that went that year - it may’ve kept me from going on full hiatus for so long like I did.
I’m not on the Nirvana groups because I only have Italian Blossom and Peachy - I didn’t think that qualified me as a Nirvana collector. I didn’t want to feel out of place there, but if they’re nicer then maybe I’ll look into them.
I can't remember the year I first went to the MD Meet. I know it was back when they were held at Jewel's grandmom's house.

When I got back into collecting recently I decided to do mainly nirvanas. I have almost all of the US G1s and couldn't remember the few I needed.... but I knew I definitely needed more internationals. Now I'm addicted! I'm trying to add one from every country to my herd.

Just to say that it's the reason why I prefer forum over other social media.

In general people are rude (remembering all the harassment people who liked newer generation of Monster High received) and the "me me me" aspect is even more important because you follow people and they follow you back and there is a sort of hierarchy. On a forum it's more "here is the theme, go and talk about that". You don't owe anyone anything (except respect obviously) so people are less upset.

I'm totally new in this community but I'm glad that I found a cozy place without drama or anything :ponylove:

I’m glad you found the post to call home in our community. I’m sure you are going to make really awesome, lifelong friends here :twohearts:
Years ago you didn’t find overly rude people in our community (none that I remember) so, I think that’s why the Facebook Pony community left such a bad taste in my mouth. Also, I think that’s why it caught me so off guard.
I am not aware of the MH harassment but that sounds sad that people had to go through that. I think all those dolls are cute, my daughter collects them.

i realize this thread's a little older but i'd also like to pitch in my personal experience with this- when i first started pony collecting i came around & found the MLPTP and MLPArena pretty early on- back in september/october 2021 or so. i'm still a relatively newer collector. i've posted a BUNCH here but as of late i've been steering away from forums- for multiple reasons that i could but won't get into. but one of them is that i belong to a few discord servers, one of which i have a tighter bond with than the rest of my pony outlets- and i feel part of that is due to the age range of everybody being around my own. on forums i notice that there are relatively fewer collectors that are around my age (think early adult years- mid 20s) and more people that are middle-aged. i guess you just sort of find the kind of pony people you vibe with best, some way or another. plus for me its easier to express myself on pony discord rather than here. i do also have a pony tumblr but it's in its own little bubble. used to have pony insta but i stopped that a long time ago. didn't have a problem with the pony community there as far as i can remember. dont have/use tiktok or twitter. fb yes but i don't use it for pony stuff :p

just want to assure you, not all newer collectors/people that dont peruse the forums are like what you described, and im really sorry you had to deal with that. if this was on fb i may just avoid pony stuff on fb altogether

I’ve decided that for socialization I’m going to stick around here, at the post because I’m really comfortable here.
Sometimes I look at the informative threads, sales threads, and even some of the interesting discussions on Facebook but it’s not a place I tend to respond to posts on anymore.
I haven’t been on the discord & I do use that platform for other pages and patron memberships that I have - someone posted on here saying she had a really bad experience there so, I didn’t even look for pony places there.
It’s not the time you’ve been collecting, it’s not the age - I think it’s just people being people and you gotta find the ones that fit what you’re looking for and people that just match you. I’ve found that here and have made some excellent friendships as well :twohearts:
This is where I belong <3:ROLO:<3

Oh, ok, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time finding good friends. There are some very lovely people here and on the mlparena. That I've known for years. I love the forum boards. I never liked Facebook and I won't use it.

No, it’s not that I’m having a hard time finding friends, I’ve made quite a few here and even a pony bff.
The pony community itself isn’t new to me either, just haven’t been active for quite some time is all. Actually, one of the girls that runs the Arena and I have been friends since the Arena was first started - even while I was on hiatus, her and I kept in touch over the years using facebook.
It’s not that it’s challenging for me to make friends so much as it is that I could see the difference in the way people acted in the facebook pony communities when compared to here is all.
If anyone has suggestions on good places/servers to find pony friends I would like to hear them to be honest;;;
Here at the Trading Post you can make a lot of great friends. All you have to do is post, everyone here has open arms.
