Hasbro's opinion on New Design G3 ponies being called G4

That's awesome! I had wrote "not confirmed by Hasbro" because I forgot to ask them that and I somehow missed the Hasbro Q&A :doh5B15D: Glad to hear it was actually confirmed! I think Jewel said that she taped the Q&A... anyone seen that posted somewhere? I'm trying to keep up with all the news... too many shipping boxes around at the moment :mrgreen:

Haha, what gives Hasbro the right to tell us what we can and can't call these? THEY never coined the G1, G2 or G3 tag, the collectors did. As much as I personally have no idea what to call them (I'm leaning towards G3 myself*), I don't think we should give a tin of beans about what they think.




*If these were NEW ponies with this new design, they'd definitely be G4s to me, but the fact they remain primarily G3 ponies... I've no idea... :\
 
i just hope G4s will look more like ponies and less like Bratz...
 
I would like to see them called G4 as they are NOT the same, and Hasbro must know they have upset a lot of the MLP community by bringing them out. I don't know if they have stopped making the proper G3s, but I certainly can't buy them anywhere in the UK, except eBay and here

I like toads, so she must be something uglier. :lol:

I'm so not a fan of these ponies! Just look how each leg is bigger than the actual body. What if we looked like that? Gross! Their noses remind me of a combination of a pig and a duck... really unusual.
 
I think they're completely acceptable and they deserve more! When I say more, I'm trying to say more fans and less haters! Of course other generations like G1 or G3 are more successful than the redesigned ponies, because they're classic and very original. Didn't you saw how hateful some haters could be? (on YouTube) Here's a link of a disappointing video (the creator is a collector of MLP).
 
Well i think i had made my opinion quite clear in previous threads, they what ever you call them, are saving me loads of money since i will not have a big head ugo in my house. it matters not to me what people lable them.

Yep, I agree everyone should say their opinion, but that is a huge MLP fan that disappointed me =) I was a little angry when I saw the video and the comments. I don't like the word "hate", even if we all have to use it sometimes.

Wow PinkieMint, thanks so much for posting that link, I really enjoyed that video!

There have been so many "new" ponies that it's hard to keep track of what we're talking about, but anything past the body style of the first G3's just seem really weird to me.
 
In my opinion, a new generation of mlp is born when the design has completely changed as in this case. Just because Hasbro says something different doesn't mean it's true. That just means it's not officially G4 but I believe it's OK for mlp fans to label it G4 if they want. It makes sense.

I totally agree. They are so different they should be considered a different generation.

Closing this up. Useful info but someone can feel free to start a new thread with the topic of the upcoming HUB ponies.
