Help on Pony Halloween Costume...UPDATE w/pics

My daughter really wants to be a Pony for Halloween...has anyone seen any good costumes or have ideas on making one. I saw a princess Star Catcher costume on ebay, but it didn't look like a Pony. It just looked like a princess dress with a Star Catcher decal on it. She wants something that looks like a Pony, not a princess.

Any Ideas?


Well here it is in all it'glory...HEE! HEE! My daughter loves it. I had help with the body, my mom sews really well. I'm learning since I just got my sewing machine 2 years ago at Christmas.

Well, I've seen quite a few G1 Pony costumes on eBay lately, and if they don't have 'Ben Cooper' in the title, they usually don't go for too much. ;)
 
I am making one now for an adult...fun to make...You should make one!
 
I have a unipeg costume I was going to stick on ebay. What size is she?

Can someone post pictures of the costumes they have or have made? I would love to see some. I have always thought of making a gingerbread one. I'm just not the best when it comes to sewing.
Whippetluv- are you making your persona or another pony?If you don't mind me asking.
 
My daughter is a 6/6x but really tall in the body, so I was thinking 7/8. I might just breakdown and make a costume of her favorite G3, but I have to get her to decide on who is her favorite.

That costume is so adorable. Your girl looks so sweet. I really like the wings/ and the color of the mane.

I hope I have a little girl(I'm 4 months pregnant)so I can dress her up in mlp costumes. I find out in 8 days what gender my baby is.

Actually I made the head and tail and hands of that costume. She made the bodysuit.
The current one I am making is a commission (yes I take commissions for pony suits). Here is the inprogress shot of the head so far.

Whippet made the head. :) And it's wonderful! The structure is sound and breathable.

I remade the tail, hands, repainted the eyes, and reattached the mane (in addition to the bodysuit and feet) because shipping was unkind to them (it was 110F here when they arrived- glue destickied and dye ran). But luckily all the materials were sent by whippet and it was easy to finish. :D I even was able to use her hands as a pattern, very useful!

These are so much fun to make. I learned about using feathers for sure...I am using fake hair this time so we don't have a repeat of the feather dye problem...I was so upset about that! So glad it was fixable.
But SpottedSlug...you are tooo thin to be a pony..you need to add a stuffed pillow! :)
 
I know I think I looked kinda silly! I'm trying to think of a good way to stuff it! :D Got any ideas? Maybe I'm a G2? lol

I did tell everyone at the fair who made the head by the way. :wink: I would never take credit for your awesome work! It was fun to show off for ya.

OMG...those are too cute! I feel inspired. My daughter wants to be Rarity, but also have wings. I told her we'll work on Rarity's twin sister uni/peg Airity just as soon as I get supplies. Not sure if we will use yarn for hair or try to find a rainbow wig to dissect. I think I will use the wings from the other costume unless I find something else. Now I have to hit all the fabric/hobby stores for the rest.
 
spottedslug...try a nice fat pillow and attach some elastic to go around.

Its just stuffed and sewn...then glued just like I glue the fur!

hi

i was the pony bright eyes one year the costume was hand made by my boyfriends mother it doesent look like spotted slug's but you can tell it is a pony

i dontknow how to post pictures but if you go to my website www.undead455.com and click on the about me page at the bottom you will see me wearing it

it also came with mittens and boot covers

whippetluv, I had no idea you made the hands and the head. That costume was so well done by the both of you!
