Could anyone tell me how I can lighten up Sky Dancer MLP? Mine is brown with smoke damage. She smells like smoke and the bottoms of her feet are the regular color she is supposed to be. Any help on a safe process for her that won't ruin her hair or symbols I would so appreciate it. I want to get her back to her original color. Need to lift the tobacco stain from her.

Oh my goodness no one knows...ahhhhh Okay well I guess I will try peroxide and if that ruins her well..oh well..tried LOL

sunfading might be your best option. smoke discoloration is a pain in the butt.

I have no proof that this will work, it's just my best guess.

If tobacco smoke is the problem you're dealing with more than staining - you've got deposits on the outside you need to take care of first. Does the pony feel sticky or slick at all?

For the smoke smell a trick a member here taught me once is to, put the pony in a ziplock type bag with baking soda, and then put her in the freezer for up to a week. That will help with the smell and won't effect the symbols or hair color. Now if her body is discolored sun fading is one option, also have you ever tried using "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser"? I used those to clean my ponies and they work wonders, I will swear by them! I would just tear off a small piece of the eraser, get it a little moist and scrub the ponies body bit by bit. Obviously you can't use it over the symbols, it may rub off the paint. Using the magic erasers never damaged my ponies in anyway as far as discoloring them like harsh chemicals can do. So perhaps try that, I find the erasers do work better when they are a little wet versus just dry. Good luck! :)

Buddafly: That is what I am trying. We will soon find out. I took a before picture so I can compare any results.

MyLittleLofty: The pony wasn't sticky at all..just brown in color instead of her original yellow.

BestintheWest: I tried the magic eraser it didn't work at all. I think the vinyl soaked in the tobacco smoke really bad. I am thinking the sun fading might get rid of the smell too...we will see. I am one day down and a few more days to finish because I have to flip the pony. Magic erasers are a dream aren't they? I use them for everything. They are such a huge help. Use them dry to get rid of shiny scuffs.

Thanks for all of your replies and ideas.

Magic erasers have been my life saver! When your doing sun fading make sure you've got your symbols covered with something so they don't fade. Hopefully it helps with the smell as well but if not, try the baking soda thing if you have some around the house. Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out.

I've been meaning to dig out some smoke damaged ponies to try H2O2 on them. I've read about people pulling horrible discoloration with the method. I'd remove the tail, and washer first since it will rust the metal fasteners inside. and make sure you are mindful of safety if you go this route.

Yea I did that. This poor pony really has a lot of issues. She is more of a bait I guess. The sun fading I did yesterday revealed some cancer, but by the end of the day the cancer marks have disappeared. I have found a puncture hole in her side poor girl. She has a hair cut so I am calling her my Punk Sky Dancer Pony LOL. Her symbols are already in pretty sad shape. I don't know what it is though..I love my special needs ponies and do everything to save them. LOL Can't throw a pony away. Its just not possible.:allecto:
