How do you display your collection?

I have been having a TON of trouble finding adequate space to display my burgeoning collection of ponies, ( and Legos, Playmobil, LPS, Polly Pockets etc)...I have been looking for a curio cabinet or glass display case for them on Craigslist, eBay, etc with no luck and it's got me wondering how other people find display cases and shelves for their collections...

So how do you display your collection? Do you have a closed display case, open shelves, something more interesting and creative? Any recommendations?

Lots of lucky people here have entire room s dedicated to their collections. My poor Ponies are in boxes along with my action figs and such. I have so many books that I have no shelf room for them in the house, so I'll probably be building shelving in my studio so my Ponies can live there.

If they don't escape these boxes soon I fear I'll have a rebellion on my hands! :surprisepony:

I bought Billy bookcases at Ikea and the glasdoors that goes with them to protect the ponies from as much dust as possible.
Only problem was that my ponyroom was smaler than I thought and my collection bigger than I thought >.< That resulted in various other shelves and bookcases from Ikea.

Usually Im so not a fan of Ikea, but they do have affordable furniture which suited the pony-room project. There's some Pictures on my site if you're curious :)

My ponies are also living in boxes at the moment. Mostly. The nephews are allowed to have ten (five each) at any given time, unless they misbehave and some need to temporarily be taken away or whatever. I also have a small crowd loitering around the kitchen sink most of the time, as I slowly go through my filthy old ponies and attempt basic pony restoration techniques to make them look somewhat more presentable.

My cramped room does have a spot where some shelving could potentially be installed, but no way in Dream Valley would everyone be able to fit. Maybe if I had shelves going up to the ceiling...

Unfortunately my herd are also packed away in large Tupperware tubs except the ones I am working on cleaning etc. I have a tiny little one bedroom house and there is no way my husband would let me have ponies everywhere (he is supportive of my collection but not THAT supportive lol). The dream one day would be to have a room somewhat like DesertRoses with shelves with glass doors... some day...

the ones that are up on display are on the top of my bookcase.

I have thought about doing the IKEA shelves but they are kind of expensive...I actually have an IKEA drawer/shelf combo but it is already overflowing with stuff  Living in a smallish apartment doesn't help either but I can't bear to leave my figures boxed up!

For me, I have shelves on the walls of my room.

We got some cheap brackets and those white particle board shelves you find at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's kinda nice because if your collection grows, you can easily add more shelving, plus they don't take up any floor space! I like having it this way because your ponies are within easier reach, and you can see them better! :satisfied:

I have mine on a glass shelf in my bedroom. Unfortunatly (or perhaps fortunatly) I am now out of space and have to buy a new shelf next week!
And yes i do drag my friends into my bedroom to show my ponies.

Haha anyone who comes over has to see my collection since it's in my living room! I thought about open shelves but the only good wall for them is painted cinder block (my stupid rental company is too lazy to update it to drywall apparently...I feel like I'm living in a dorm) so I can't really hang anything on it...plus I have a cat who likes to bat at my toys so I want them in a case where she can't get to them.

I don't have room to display my collection at the moment, so everything is lying around in boxes, waiting for me to get shelving or a display cabinet made for them. Everything that I've purchased new is currently lined up on my dresser or stacked on the floor until I decide whether or not to leave any of them in their packaging. The loose mint and second-hand ponies are together in one huge cardboard box. Luckily they're all G4s, so I don't need a lot of space for them once they're deboxed, and I can get away with ordering a pretty small cabinet for now. TBH, I don't actually know what I'll do when I start getting G1s, as I have very limited place to put things...

I have a whole room. We bought the house so that I could display my ponies away from everything else. I have the Billy system from Ikea, but only about half the room is done. The other half has a massive china hutch from my grandmother until I can get the rest of the Ikea stuff. I don't have the doors or glass shelves or lighting for them yet but someday I will.

In the closet in the pony room are some built in shelves and some small bookcases I installed, and a pegboard for hanging MOC stuff. I tend to keep my MIB playsets, larger ponies, exclusives, customs, and Brazilians in the closet, away from the light.

I use store bought shelves as well as a (horribly) home made shelf. I still have plenty of ponies in a box including a tin full of blind bags that aren't on display. Once I move out of my share accommodation house I plan on either having a pony room or at least larger space besides my little bedroom. Here is a reference pic of my ponies, all along one wall of my room almost haha.

Constantly a work in progress as space allows, and the collection grows!

I just store most of them away until I have shelving suitable to display them!

I have one room that is "mine". Sort of. It doubles as a home office for hubby's business (I do all his paperwork). The ponies must share shelf space with my books which line about 2/3 of one wall and a bit less than 1/3 of another. We also have "pony creep", however, in the form of a couple small shelves in front of the bookshelves... It is becoming difficult to walk in here. :-/ And yet *most* are in tubs. *those* must share closet space with files cabinets and craft stuff. My dream is to be able to set everything (castles, ponies, ALL OF IT) up like one of those giant train/village/landscape displays that people do. OH. right. that means we need a PONY ROOM.

I'm lucky enough to have a whole room (12' by 11') for my ponies. I have my loose ponies on bookcases surrounding the whole room. The boxed ponies I have on pegboards above the bookshelves. The bigger stuff is still in the closet unfortunately but I plan to build a tired table for the center of the room.

I wish I had room to display them :c But now they're just all in boxes. I know how I -want- to display them some day in the future when I have room for it :p I'd love some glass cabinets for the rarer ones! I love love love seeing other people's pony rooms *drool* ^_^
