I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot for this post!

I have recently come into a bunch of ponies I am going to be selling. I will either sell them here or on Ebay. I notice that a lot of Ebay auctions use bubble mailers for ponies, where as I always ship everything I sell in a box priority mail.

None of the ponies I have are super ultra rare so what is the best way to ship them? I want to make sure they arrive in good shape and I know how rough the post office can be!

Any thoughts/suggestions? thanks!

I always ship non-custom LOOSE ponies sealed in a ziploc plastic bag in a bubble mailer if it's 1-3 ponies, possibly as many as 4 ponies if they're G3 or G4. More than that I generally use a box. If the ponies are MOC or MIB I would definitely use a box.

i have sold hundreds of ponies here and on ebay and i have found a pretty inexpensive and quality way to ship ponies ^_^

i buy large non-bubble envelopes
like these Office Depot Brand Clasp Envelopes, 9in. x 12in., Brown, Box of 100

and a roll of bubble wrap like this
Shurtech Brands Llc 393251 12 in.X30 ft.Bubble Wrap

and some cheep ziplock-type baggies.

- put pony in baggie
- wrap with piece of bubble wrap
- place pony in envelope then cut it to size. (this way you get more for your $ on the envelopes since you can use the other half for another pony)
- seal with packaging tape on both ends

this method is MUCH cheaper than buying bubble envelopes and still looks professional :)

also, first class with delivery confirmation is MUCH cheaper than priority mail and the delivery confirmation will give you and your buyers a sence of security. and if your shipping is cheap, your buyers will spend more on your ponies!!

do NOT go to fedex or mailboxes etc or any place like that since they mark up thier prices so they can get a profit.

there are places however, that are contracted by usps that dont have a mark up price. in case the post office is too far or over crowded, these types of places are good to go to. when you google usps locations, they will pop up :)

good luck with your sales!!

you could also try tissue paper and maybe some packing peanuts if you can get them. I have never sent any but newspaper is also a good standby after you put the pony in a ziploc bag.

I use boxes or envelopes. It depends on what I already have. I also use USPS with a conformations. I haven't had any international buyers. So I'm not sure how I would pack those items.

I put the pony into a plastic bag, then wrap it with bubble tape.

I'll use a number of different materials to wrap. It all depends on what I am sending. Fragile items get a box, always. As long as you don't have anything that can stain against the pony itself, you're fine. Fold top sandwich bags work well. I'll stick the pony inside, and kind of tape the bag snug so it can't slide around. They keep the pony/hairstyle contained, So when my buyers open up their ponies, the curls are still nice, and hair isn't all messy. but they breathe better then the zipper bags to prevent moisture if it ends up on a hot humid porch or mail box. (less expensive too then zipper bags). (I also have a small hole-punch I use to add a couple extra air holes.)

Special items:
Wingers - box- make sure they can't shift around inside, and the wings stay straight.
Flutters- carefully remove the wings. I sandwich them around a cardboard piece, wrapped in plastic and again in bubblewrap.
So Softs- more important with NM or better SS's. Boxed, loosely wrapped. (If it is a bait that will be deflocked anyway, a bubblemailer is fine)
Playsets- BOXED. and all parts WELL away from the corners/sides of a box. Make sure any playset is well suspended in the center. I've got a few playsets now, that have had a shattered piece because the box got struck somewhere along the way.

I use bubble mailers for a couple and if I am mailing a lot...I use a box. I have found that shipping them in plain envelopes doesn't always work well. Recently it rained here so badly that the mail got wet. Someone had sent me a pony wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a brown plain envelope but by the time it got to me there was a huge hole in the envelope due to rain. Thats a chance I won't take with my shipments. Its a once in a lifetime like thing..but hey if a pony can fall out..where as with a bubble envelope its protected the the evelope being plastic lined..its worth the extra. I don't ship a lot though.

For wingers and customs, in a box. Always.

Porcelains are shipped double-boxed. Never had one broken yet!

Normal loose ponies are shipped in bubble mailers. I never put them in ziplocks because in the event there is any moisture trapped in the pony, sealing them will keep the moisture inside, possibly causing rust or mold/mildew.

Plushies are either boxed OR wrapped tightly in bubble wrap and then in plain brown paper, depending on what the buyer wants.

just make sure to buy strong bubble mail bags, as ive had a pony come through all scrapped up and pocking out the bag were it was a cheep bag, and never use newspaper! print comes off on to ponies... had that happen to a very expensive mountain boy pony :(
