How many ponies are in your collection?

That totally makes sense.
I kinda have a rule with dolls that I don't keep ones just because I think they're cute. There's too many. I have to have some other filters and parameters to what I keep. I really do have a hard time enjoying anything I have too much of. Smaller collections are just more manageable and if I start accumulating too much it gets overwhelming.

Saaaame. I feel so fickle sometimes, like I'm not really a collector at heart, but just like having some cute things, or just like building sets and sorting things.
Truthfully, I'm quite minimalist in many things and having large collections can start to give me anxiety. Though I'm not sure if you meant it in the exact same way, you saying 'panic purging' resonates with me.

Ooh! You’re a doll collector too?! What dolls do you collect? But same too large of collections are overwhelming
 
@ninastoyshelf Right now Rainbow High has been my main focus. I also have some Ever After High and I've been into BJD/Super Dollfie for many years.
I've seen some really amazing American Girl play sets and props! AG are so large I imagine it's difficult to have space for too many!

Wow that’s amazing! I personally don’t collect rainbow high or ever after high but I do like them! I have one BJD tho. American girl has soooo much. I collect the characters but the older ones. But there’s so many outfits and accessories, it’s so hard to have everything on my wishlist. I’ve been collecting for 5 years and I’m no where near finished. A lot of collectors have 50-100+ ag dolls, I have just 28, but they’re all ones I really enjoy
 
My MLP Merch checklist says 291 ponies in total :lolpony: However, I think it might not be accurate since I sold some ponies and probably missed somepony. Right now I count my collection as finished, because I got almost every pony I wanted. Now I just check local sites for some interesting ones.

I use the MLP Merch checklist too for count purposes. I like that they have like every single pony that you can think of.
I used to use an excel spreadsheet in the early 00’s but that’s like 25 hard drives ago so, good thing we have better resources available to us now.
After excel I used the inventory books, particularly Summer Hayes’ book ever since it was released & to this day.

I also used to have an excel spreadsheet, but I lost it long ago. I also used a simple notebook :) I always wanted an inventory book, is there a way to get one now?

Of course - they’re always available on eBay and other resale places. I’m not sure if any are still in production. These days you’ll have to excuse the resell values that are listed in the books, obviously they’re outdated.
I still recommend Summer’s books. They’re just well organized and easy to use. They’re broken down into generations too.

I just use a google doc haha, I’ll look into the checklist tho too!

I’m a lot better at painting than I used to be. I work at one of those paint and sip studios so I have had a lot of practice since then.

I have somewhere in the ballpark of 70 ~ 80 at this point! It's 62 "full size" ponies (G3 & 4), but I also have a bunch of blindbag and ponyvile ponies which I couldn't be bothered to count proper haha
