So I've been wanting to make a custom G3 pony for a while now... The most I've ever done is repaint a G4 blind bags hair and paint a brushable Celestias hooves gold... So I have a couple questions... And some requests.

-What type of paint and is there a brand of paint I should use?

-What type of paint brushes should I use for details like eyes, and cutie marks?

-Whats the best way to remove the eyes and cutie marks?

-Where can I get a (cheap) airbrush? Does anyone have one they don't use anymore?

-Does anyone have any G3 baits they don't want/need?

-What can I use on the ponies so the paint dosen't chip off?

-Where can I get a re-root tool? Does anyone have one they don't need/use anymore?

-Whats a good place to get hair for re-rooting?

I myself am rather new to customs, but I will give some advice from what I have gathered!

1. Use Acrylic paints for plastic! You can get them rather cheaply, and they do come in a lot of colours too. Brandwise, I just buy own brand paints and they do the job nicely.

2. I'd use very thin brushes, and I'm very very careful. I practice on paper and fakies first though.

3.Acetone can remove eyes and cutie marks rather well. You have to rub it a bit but it does work nicely.

4. Can't answer this one, sorry, I've never used an airbrush ^-^

5.not very useful here either!

6. Use Mod podge. It seals the paint and makes it a bit shiny in a sense. If you're doing it full body, maybe water it down a little. There are some other things you could use too.

7. I think you can get one from Dolly hair, but I've never done a rehair. I'm a bit scared personally.

8. I've heard a lot about Dolly hair, and I think there's also a site called my little customs in the UK.

Hope my answers helped, but I think you'd need some more answers too as I'm not the greatest in customs only having done two >.<

Thank you so much! I'll have to check out Dolly Hair sometime!

Actually, I just read this because I was interested in making customs and this is very helpful. Thanks!

-What type of paint and is there a brand of paint I should use?

I use acrylics, and they typically come in AppelBarrel, Ceramcoat, and Folk Art.

-What type of paint brushes should I use for details like eyes, and cutie marks?

Any size- what matters is that you have the brush slicked down so the tip is at a point/tight angle for applying the gentle strokes.

-Whats the best way to remove the eyes and cutie marks?

Acetone. Or if you're lazy like me, you just paint over them

-Where can I get a (cheap) airbrush? Does anyone have one they don't use anymore?

*bites fingers and leaves that one to someone else* I'm stubborn and stick with paint brushes...

-Does anyone have any G3 baits they don't want/need?

Mmaaybee~

-What can I use on the ponies so the paint dosen't chip off?

Artists Varnish (usually located in the paint isles of craft stores) or watered-down Mod Podge.

-Where can I get a re-root tool? Does anyone have one they don't need/use anymore?

Hobby Lobby sells the utensil identical to Dollyhair's. The pain is finding the right gage of sewing needle to insert into that won't break on a pony's scalp; you just have to experiment until you find the perfect needle...

Other than that, Dollyhair sells them and if not that, wire method.
