That would be so fun! Alas I also have no IRL friends lol

I used to be part of a steampunk costuming group before I moved and we would meet at the cutest tea shop, everything was mismatched, from chairs to cups and it had super cottagecore Alice in Wonderland vibes, wish there were more of those around!

You should see if there are any tea houses near you! They usually have multi course tea services you can order with lots of yummy treats! I'm part of the Lolita fashion community and we do tea parties all the time, they're SO much fun!! Tiny sandwiches and desserts ftw lol!!

there is a tea room at this antique shop i wanna go to, but i dont know if i wanna dress in my fancy dresses to go by myself lol - i do still wanna go though in just my normal self clothes lol

also - i wanna have it at home so i can be obnoxious xD

Maybe see if there's a local Lolita fashion enthusiasts group? That sounds like the kinda thing they'd be into. You could dress up and it wouldn't look out of place.
they would be far more dressed up than i lol

I might just plan one for my birthday this year with me, my fiance, and bestie xD best tea party ever

Aw, @Sassarazzmadazzles I would totally have a fancy tea party with you.
I used to go to tea parlors and cafes that served afternoon tea fairly regularly back when I was more active with BJD groups (mainly back when I lived in California) and there was often some Lolita crossover as well. It was a lot of fun and I miss those days. I even hosted a small casual doll meet tea party at my house once.
If there’s PFF later this year maybe we can plan a small excursion meet at Garden Tea Lounge at the Craftiques Mall (I’ve not tried it yet but want to sometime) or one of the other places in San Antonio. I think you’re at another end of Texas from me now, right?

Yeah, I’m in DFW area

Aw a tea party would be so much fun ^_^ can you imagine a pony themed tea party with everyone here? Fancy outfits, little cakes decorated with pony symbols, maybe some pony decorations, painting our teacups to have our favorite ponys on them :lolpony:

A few years ago my friends (they’re sisters) invited me over to their house for a tea party which I was excited about. So I baked tiny little sugar cookies and showed up in a slightly poofy floral yellow skirt and a lacy shirt lol, it was not that kind of tea party apparently XD They were wearing normal clothes and we sat by their pool with tea and croissants from Starbucks. I felt a little silly but it was still nice

Aww, If I was the one throwing that tea party I would have been so excited that you came prepared!!!! Its so much more fun to dress up! (Again, I'm a Lolita though so I might be biased- dressing up is sort of our whole thing LOL!)

Do it sassy!!! That sounds like a great birthday! Do you like baking, or would you rather buy treats?

I have wanted to host a Alice in Wonderland themed tea party for years and just have never gotten to it. I may even have a flamingo and playing cards croquet set for the occasion along with themed table linens

I actually booked for me and hubby to go to a local museum (VMFA) for "tea"for Valentine's Day. It was something they started doing several months back, they turned one of the rooms into a tearoom and they do a fancy tea with little sweets and savories. The reservations have been booked up and this will be my first time checking it out but it's something different to try. He was the one who actually mentioned it a while back and was like, "I wanna have tea and little pastries and sandwiches" which just sorta made me laugh and took me by surprise. I haven't told him yet I got a reservation and it's something we'll be doing. Looking forward to it, figure worse case we grab some fried chicken on the way home if needed :lolpony:

Can’t go wrong with fried chicken xD

Haha thanks :D they were cool about it. Nice, lolita outfits are always so pretty! What style lolita are you?

@Gingerbread can you (if your remember) give an update of the museum's tea offering?

I might have to check that out if the tea is decent. Unfortunately, I import a lot of loose leaf teas and can be a bit picky on quality.

I wish I knew anyone close to me that would even be interested in just trying out/trading tea. My husband complains that the bolder Japanese greens I drink taste like grass. :(

For anyone actually wanting to dress up:
If enough people can RSVP ahead for one of the upcoming pony meets, pooling some funds might make it possible to book the tea house for a few hours. And if it's a closed group maybe members will feel more comfortable going in fancy dress?

the most exotic tea ive had is "corn silk tea" - tastes very corny lol

I've nibbled on corn silk while shucking corn, and yes - corny.

For black teas I like some of the sweeter tasting Chinese teas. I have some that taste sweet and malty, and others that have a sort of dark chocolate taste to the finish. No sugar or anything added. I buy a lot off the Yunnan Sourcing US site.

For English and Darjeelings there Upton Tea. They also have sample sizes. Perfect for someone wanting tea for their own little party.

im about to completely obliterate your tea edicate and quality and knowledge with my simpleton ways lol

but.. the other thing i do is throw a tea back into sprite lol - i get the uh... you get a variety pack from the story, black cherry, peach, razzberry, wildberry, and blueberry. let it sit for a while and ya got bubble tea - its so good lol

and ive tried a few other teas, but ive not come to be good at brewin it yet, i always make it too bold and fry my mouth with flavor lol - one was like a christmas time tea, i dont remember the name, i got it from central market, smelt great, but the spices were way too much for me lol

I like my good ol sweet tea, peach tea, or strawberry tea the most ♥

or just some milk tea aswell

That works great for basic grocery store tea because it doesn't have as much flavor on its own. So it benefits being dressed up a bit.

But based on what you mentioned, you might like teas with a fruity note to them. Some Darjeelings are like that and might be offered at a tea house.

I wonder what sort of smaller tea houses you could find down around the Dallas art district? It's been years since I was there and I was always busy heading to something else, but there might be smaller places and local groups for themed meet ups.

Unless you're over closer to the Fort Worth side. All I know about that side was driving through to Austin.

(I used to live in Oklahoma)
