I'm Going to do a Pony Cosplay

So. My friends and I are heading to the MCM expo in October over the Halloween weekend and after finding the May one super fun we're going back. And well we decided (or at least three of us) that we wanted to cosplay.

Now first I wanted to make a 'female assassin' costume based off the second Assassin's Creed game and no matter how much I tried I never seemed to get any chance to get to work on it and realised there would be no time to sort it out. (I pretty much needed to make EVERYTHING including a prop hidden blade, tunic ect.) then I went 'hmm... how about a Mad Hatter?' could be possible but may be difficult to track stuff down.

Then after seeing the 'Bubbles at Dragon Con' thread on the MLParena I was inspired. I'm going to make myself an G1 Applejack cosplay. And my idea for making it should be easy enough to pull together by the time the con comes around as I don't need to make too much (apart from a pair of trousers and a fleece hat with ears) I've done some searching around town this morning and found the fabric I need, but i'm going to do some searching for the fleece as my local fabric shop doesn't have it in orange, that and I can't find the right kind of fake fur to do the tail (ideally, I need long pile) but I know I have a never worn white vest top I can easily dye and I can easily grab a pair of cheap white canvas trainers to dye, and I have a white vest shirt I've never worn that I can dye. That and I can easily get felt sheets for cheap to make the little apple accents.

EEEEE, I'm so exicted to start working on it. XD

Try this place for the fur?? They give free samples of their stuff, so if you go ahead and order some long pile yellow fur, you can get a sample of it. I don't think you'd be disappointed!

Firstly, Yay for more pony cosplay :D I've done quite a few now lol. And secondly OMG you're going to MCM expo :D Me too ^_^ In fact i was thinking about taking my cosplay that i'll be wearing at ponycon the weekend before and wearing it on the sunday of expo :D Yay for more pony peeps at UK cons ^_^
 
Aahaha I've been considering doing Pony cosplay for AGES! Ever since I saw a bunch of really awesome ponythemed costumes from some US convention.

I'm even more likely to do a pony themed costume since Ponycon is the weekend just before! We should have a mini MLP meet at Expo!! I've gone there every May/Oct for the past few years now! Usually hanging out with the TF2 crowd :D

I was hoping to get to UK Ponycon but I don't think I've been successful in pursading my mum, the expo is different as since it's in London it's a simple matter of getting on the train for an hour or so but as the pony con is up in Birmingham it would cost too much for a train ticket from where I am up there and I don't think my mum or dad is too keen on having to drive me up there, which sucks D:
 
XD I'm working on one for Anime Detour, the con I go to in the spring! I'm making G1 Paradise, it's mostly done now, I just need a wig, make those sleeves that start at the elbow and go down to the wrist, and a tail...and a Patch of palm trees and a crescent moon, shouldn't be too hard! I'm thinking of having the patches on my sleeves, and maybe carrying around a Paradise for reference..or maybe find a pin maker there to have them make a pin?

But what I have so far is this epic pair of white wings, a white shirt/white tank-top I'm still undecided about which..and a white flowing skirt. I'll try to post pics when I'm done if you want!
 
Surely Birmingham is only an hour or so from you too, Starry? I'm down in the southwest and it's only 2 and a half hours from me! If you get the tickets early they might be cheaper?

Either way, Expo's gonna be amazing! I've got a table in the artist alley/comic village area so I'm gonna be there all three days, woot!

OH and Ravenfeather, I'd LOVE to see pics!

I've got the yellow long-pile myself on a sample, and really liked it. Ah yes, I looked there but they won't ship outside of the US. I may end up getting some more fleece, cutting strips from it and braiding them together, actually that may be a bit more hardwearing than the fur as it's less likley to loose fluff.

Reaperfox: I think it's according to the travel stuff about 3 hours away. I just think my parents just don't want to bother driving up there, and I did ask my mum about the train but she doesn't want me taking the train as it's 'too far to go on your own' and unlike going to the MCM expo I'd be going alone.
 
Yeah, I bet if I wasn't having to go on my own to Ponycon it would be different, but I don't think my mum or dad would really want to be hanging around all day with me and none of my friends are 'pony people' it's a problem. Oh well, I can hopefully get there another year. *crosses fingers*
 
Expo's a lot of fun though so even if you can't make it to ponycon you'll still have fun lol. And a MLP meet at expo would be cool :D We can meet at your stall reaper and bug you lol.
 
XD Yeah, let's go bother Reaper! Chances are though I'll go over there and my friends will be going 'who are they? why are you talking to them?' as they're not pony people. :p

But, I should be ordering the orange fleece fabric Tues/Weds so hopefully I can start on my hat and gloves over the weekend, and if I can't get the costume fully made up by Expo I'll at least have those done.
