Sewers, start rubbing your hands together....

Today I saw this Fashion Style Lyra custom which I have to say.. was worth the do!

She sold for $112 on ebay... Not bad considering she had a 14 carot gold clasp!

And then comes other beauties:

- $160
- $200+ ?
And my personal favourite

Oh, and let's not forget the other sorts of merch:

- $86 (Rainbow Dash and Xbox 360?.. We know where this is going..)

Honestly, I don't know what's the best gauge for measuring this fandom's obsession. But I think that custom merch may be it...

But I think this one takes the cake..
Beautiful but... 28 bids and now $400?!?

Most handmade MLP plush I've seen ranged $30-$50 mark. Not what I'd normally pay, but it's understandable that these where made by people who make them in their spare time... And the quality of the fabrics and obviously, skill.

Obviously, you can find more of these insanely popular delights with a simple selection of "Highest Price" in the dropdown box.

Now that's all said.. anyone else inspired by this.. perhaps thinking of taking advantage of this incredible demand?.. Is this too much?
Also... would you be the sort to purchase one of these? Or is that stuff just for bronies? :p

(I would have made that a poll if I had the ability to!)

Wow yeah ive seen those on ebay I love them but could never afford them id love to learn how to make plushies for my lil girl though

That is way too expensive no matter how cute those plushies look

When I was actively making G1 custom plushies, I had a lot of people saying my price of $40 was too much. Between the cost of materials & time spent, it wasn't really worth it to sell them for under $40 and even that was barely worth the amount of time I had to put into each one.

Kudos to the people making these plushies that the Bronies are paying top dollar to get! I don't see many of the non-Brony pony collectors being willing to pay that sort of money for fan made merchandise.

I don't call myself a brony or anything, but I am the type that would pay a few hundred for a good quality plush if it's big enough. I got this fluttershy for a few hundred dollars, but she is MASSIVE at 40"! I think she was well worth the price, but I'd never pay that much for a smaller plush. I would also never pay over $500 for any plush!

I know right??!! I saw a Queen Chrysalis plush being sold for 2k!!!! :surprise:
I'm to the point of actually making my own plushes.

edit: here's the link to the page- it already ended Queen Chrysalis my little pony plush, friendship is magic | eBay

Right. You two officially beat my finds!!

I can understand the Queen Chryssalis one.. sort of. Someone obviously made her very quickly.

As for the Rainbow Dash Galloping Galla, I'm confused! Only 10 inches??..
The quality of the sewing is far superior - infact now that I see it, it's the most accurate looking plush body shape yet. Also to get a symbol and eye satin-stitched that way you need a very expensive embroiderly machine for that...

Kudos..

Understandable!
Let me say that off the bolt, so much fabric like that would cost lots. Also some plush makers do a test first, before a final (though I'm assuming the maker would have done a scaled down version first?..). Not only that but all the stuffing so $500 isn't tooooooo far fetched considering what's been selling extensively now..

P.S That has got to be the most cutest room... :p

I'll wait until the FiM fad passes, and then I'll get them cheap when people try to resell them. It's the only way I could afford them. lol

I saw a gala Fluttershy go for almost 3K - and I guess there was an RD plush that went for over 5K.

All of the fan-made stuff in G4 is ridiculously overpriced. I had a friend point me to an independent site that made ponywear. Their sweatshirts were cheaply made but going for $150 and sometimes more! People buy it, too, which is the weird thing.

I'll stick with my little herd, thanks. :)

Thanks! Actually I was saying that I wouldn't pay up to $500 for a plush. $500 is just way too expensive. I got this big beauty for only a few hundred dollars (international shipping included)! I know I lucked out there though, because most of the smaller ones go for much much more!

There's a guy who goes by the nick "E the Pony" who's happy to do G4-related embroidery for relatively cheap, since he has a couple of them fancy machines as a hobby. In fact I think he's still losing a little bit with each order, so if anyone did buy from him it'd probably be a nice gesture to toss in a little extra as a tip. If I remember right he can currently do as large as 4"x7", and he's done eyes and cutie marks for some of the FiM plush makers.

As for the prices, supply and demand, it's basic economics. Maybe the happiness of having these was worth $2k to the buyers. I know I've picked up a few things here and there that I didn't really need but were worth it to me...and I'm sure some toy collections could add up to quite a bit too. ;-) I was actually a bit surprised when I added up how much I'd spent on my modest amount of pony.

I dont get the prices on the smaller custom plushies.
there is currently a daring do plush that is over 700$
