I've lost my mind.

That's the only explanation I can think of for this. I mean, why else would it happen?

I'm pretty much a scrooge when it comes to spending money. I cowered over buying Baby Starbow. I flinched before buying Chocolate Delight. And it was a good week or so before I decided I couldn't bring myself to buy Tex just yet.

And then this happens.

I bought Patch. A.k.a. one of the elusive 7 Tales Characters.

...

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???

Okay, granted, part of the reason I went ahead and bought her was because she was on sale, and my birthday is coming up fast, so I though, eh, why not. Still, I wasn't even that much into Tales right now, in fact I was a lot more into G3 than anything else, pony-wise... Which kind of sucks, since now I'm not going to be able to buy any more ponies (or anything else, for that matter) for at least a month. :-(
Well, I guess that's just how much I still love Tales after all these years. *shrug* I mean, I wouldn't go this far with just anything from my childhood. It's... kind of sweet, in a way. I'm not thinking of getting any of the other characters, though, I'm not monetarily suicidal. :p However, that is still a LOT of money for molded plastic and nylon fiber, and I'm definitely going to have to make up for it.

Just wanted to share... And wonder if anyone else ever felt this way over a big purchase. :34353:

When I *finally* got the chance to buy a pony I've wanted for over a decade I nearly threw up when the money left my account. I did need to lay down and chill out. Thing is, I had a started a savings account years before set aside for this ONE pony once I'd discovered she'd not only be pricey, but pretty darn rare. :( I would never see her for sale and often when stuff came up from her set I'd see the dreaded "USA only" for shipping. Anyway, when I finally get the chance to buy her I want to barf?!? What's wrong with me? She was my grail and I was fretting about my reaction after paying for her. Well- glad I did get her, when she arrived all that washed away, whenever I look at her all I can think is "worth every penny"

I don't mind shelling out for the ponies I love, mostly though my collection cost only $1-3 per pony with accessories in pretty perfect shape, I saved and bought lots. this was years ago so I was used to not spending much beyond the very odd pony. Spending $20 or more for one -it would have to be something I really wanted. Besides my breaking the bank pony, I now have the odd one I dropped over $60 on, I always freak a little when I drop bigger cash, but I never felt have regrets after they're in my hands. :eek:k:

Oh I've definitely felt that way over big purchases! Being a vintage Barbie/Barbie in general collector things can get pretty pricey to say the least (I still don't have any ponytail Barbies because of their prices and most of my Barbie family are in so-so condition) and I always feel my heart drop when I make a bigger purchase.

I also had a pretty rough time last year and went on a HUGE doll spending spree (huge for me anyway) & I ended up feeling pretty anxious about all the money I'd spent but I'm glad I got the dolls I did.

But congrats on your pony. I'm sure she's more than worth it :)

I felt that way when i bought my SSN Pink Dreams, but she was the only one for sale at the time and i really wanted her.
I did feel bad for a while for dropping so much money on one pony, but when she arrived it was totally worth it! She's so cute and pudgy and has become one of my favourites.

Its okay to spend money on happiness. <3

*hugs* ha ha I have had that feeling when I come across a box of blindbags..... when wave 3 first hit stores I bought an entire box. When I checked my banking account I was in shock for a few days. Problem was, my husband was pushing me to buy them so it was an even bigger shock.

Oh I know that feeling, like when you buy a big lot.. thankfully my biggest purchases I usually use cash, so it doesn't feel as bad, lol! I drop $50 + usually on a good market spree, but I save on shipping, and I usually end up getting hubby and I drinks and brekky, too, so that helps me justify, lol! I spent $100 on a gumtree find once, thank god hubby waited in the car for me and thought I'd only paid $50! Well worth it though for 35 G1's and a G2 playset and pony, keypers and other 80's stuff, most of them in great cond beneath all the grime, and I used all the stuff I didn't need for trading, so I've probably got most of that back, in ponies and accessories from here and the arena!

Don't worry, seeing your bank account minus that $$ is always such a struggle, but it's such a rush when the ponies arrive, you'll forget all about the money you spent!

Whoo, it happens, let me tell you. XD I had written off ever being able to get half of my variant collection and then felt awful when I finally plunked down the money for some of them, but as soon as I opened their shipping containers all that left and it doesn't bother me anymore.

FF, WHO was this wonderful pony so amazing you'd open a savings account to get her?? I have to know now!

I have to agree. I knowingly overpaid for my pony, I paid international shipping with insurance on a single pony, but to hold a sparkling mint Himmelstanzer (my pony grail for years), it was beyond words. I kept her for many years, and finally let her go. I kinda miss her now, but even just having the memory of her was so worth every penny. She was even better than Mimic.

My avatar is a hint. :) I got a whitecap and sandollar for $4 as a kid and just adored them! I had a couple of the baby sea ponies but had never seen anything like these two girls, and later found an 84 checklist pamphlet in a random second hand find and when I saw that set they instantly became my favorite.

My savings account, I started it after I got a whitecap with box/acc for $120 in an ebay auction about ten years back. Right after it ended I got a very frantac (but kind) ebay message from a collector who wanted to bid, but had issues getting one in at the last second and of course the auction was over. She offered me VERY good money (at the time) for the box and implied her max bid she wanted to place was "very high" so I figured because of that message, I mean you'd really want something to message the person who just bought the item, and how long this lady was collecting to be missing her I'd need more serious cash to win my favorite when/if she showed up.

My expensive pony was a MIB wavejumper, my favorite of the set and the last to get. :) If I had to sell my collection it's likely I'd not make my money back on her but it's cool beans with me. I was offered Wavejumper right after I bought a replacement Whitecap MIB (I had sold the other box way back when but kept the pony and had a couple pangs of sellers regrets since) so it was double big bucks outta the account.

It's so dangerous to be bidding on ponies, because you just loose your mind :p I know I do atleast and I've ended up spending waaay waaay more money on a pony than I should (good thing I like cheap noodles for noms XD). I spent over 1000$ (yes you read that right) on a pony once, or rather it was a gift from my bf. I felt sick when I pushed pay, but when she arrived I was in tears I was so happy :) In 5 years you will not be thinking 'Oh crap I spent XXXX on XXXX', you'll look at your pretty pony and be happy :D
