I can't believe that I have been living in China for a year already. Where did the time go?
I'm not in a big city like Shanghai or Beijing. It's a small city that tourists would never visit cause there is nothing here worth seeing and about 95% of the locals have never seen a westerner before, of which there are only 4 of us. However, the other 3 work at different schools so I never see them.

why one does not take the slow trains...(the girl is my roomate, dont know the creepy dude)

A year huh? Wow! Those are some great pictures. It sucks about the air pollution.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, the year has gone quick I remember when you moved there last year during the sticker swap!

Wow! You must be having such an amazing adventure. Is it everything you hoped it would be?

YOu're going to Japan next, right? Where will you be there? My step son was in Misawa for several years and he and his family just loved it. I so envied them!

My uncle lived in a Japan a while. We have friends in Japan. I believe that will be a lot of fun for you Tiki.

A year! Are you enjoying yourself? How much longer do you plan to stay? It seems like such an adventure! I'd like to see the great wall and visit one day, guess I need to get myself a cute mask too, huh?

Its been an intersting year. Not all of it good, but not all of it bad either. When I first got here, my boss and I did NOT get along and I think the problem was my weight. Asians, in general, are much smaller then westerners and I am fat by american standards and the people here have no problem pointing that out.
In order to get yout reseidency permit, you MUST give the Chinese gov't your passport for a month. During that time, I had a lot of Anxiety and I just wanted to go home.
Things got better when I was able to get a bank account and a ATM card and when I got my passport back. It was a rural location where there are no foreigners and people are not too friendly to outsiders.
I was literally the only westerner in the city and unlike Shanghai or Beijing, there are very few foreign influnces, except for a KFC and Pizza Hut.

Ayways, I will be in Tokyo this time. I am not willing to be in another rural location

I think you'll find Tokyo much more accepting and open minded. They're still not totally embracing of foreigners, but they pride themselves on being polite and civil. I couldn't afford to live there myself. I'd live at Mandarake and spend all my $$$ on doujinshi. :D

Oh I have always wanted to visit China and definetly Tokyo! Your pics looks great!!
