Oh. My. God. I was watching a MO Spike The Dragon on eBay,
and there were 5 bids. it was at 42.00 something, so I bid 150.00 (It would only make me pay 43.00.) thats what I THOUGHT would happen, but it turned out that the highest bidder had bid 100.00, so I ended up having to pay 107.00!!!! WTF OMG At least I won it! :D

My mom has to pay most of it because I didn't have THAT kind of money on hand! Now I feel really guilty...the guiltiest. :(

holy potatoes!! Thats alot of cash!! I know you were looking for him though so congrats

XD Yeah But I now officially owe my mom $60. Then, a few hours after that, there was the Pink Peachy My Pretty pony, and I ended up spending $50 on that, too. :D
I just couldn't believe I got two of my most wanted items. <3

:(

Same thing happened to me with a lot that had a flutter pony in it with her original wings. It was at $40 with only seconds to go so I bid $102...turns out someone else had the same idea and I got them by a dollar. At least there were a few others in there too. Don't feel bad, of you really love it that's all that matters :)

Wow, that's rough. :( He's not worth anywhere near that much. It happens though! I've put in crazy high bids never expecting them to go that high but sometimes they do.

Wow... glad you got what you wanted and all, but I hope it'll be a 'lesson learned'... never bid more than you are willing (or able) to pay. Not only that, but future sellers might reference that selling price if they are listing a Spike... making it harder for other collectors to get their hands on one.

Mistakes happen... and expensive ones can suck the most... but it sounds like you are stepping up and taking responsibiliity for it, not just running away from it like those non paying bidders tend to do. :)

Just remember the chant... It will show up on eBay again...
I've seen prices bounce all around on eBay. I've been there since it started back in '97 and you wouldn't believe some of the auctions back then. If I win an auction great, else I wait until I can get it for the price I'm willing to pay.

Congrats on MO Spike though he's a cutie!

Yeah, he is :) One question though. He topples/rock the very very slightest...I have two UK Dragons who stand on flat things perfectly straight. I told my mother she told hes probably warped from age... :/ Can you tell if thats true, or is he just like that?

Oh wow! I hate it when that happens... D: What Flutter was it? I don't have one yet, but they are so pretty. Personally I'd like Rosedust, Morning Glory, and Hollywood. <3

I recommend Bidslammer. I am so bad at getting caught up in bidding wars, and it seems like almost every G1 auction ends that way anymore. I set my highest bid that I'm willing to pay, and then refuse to look at the auction until it ends. It has definitely saved me from overpaying time and again.

If something is going up at an insane rate, whether it's still in my price range or not, I just slam my laptop shut and walk away. Takes an unbelievable amount of self control XD

To my understanding, this one is harder to find because he only came with mail order Majesty. He has "cartoon eyes" like the UK dragons with black outlining.

Re:

Oh my, that is quite alot :p But at least you got him :)

I have it as a rule to never put in a higher bid than I'm prepared to actually pay. That being said, I always hope it's more than what others are willing to bid :p

Bid

I hate when a great pony I want goes way to high in a bidding war. Or a great lot of ponies. I have done my research so I know what a pony should go for. I can't stand when a pony is listed as Rare and its not. 1st your not supposed to do that it's in the rules of eBay. 2nd I've seem too many bidders bid way to high thinking it is Rare.

Most of the time I think the bidding on the ebay auctions I watch go high for common stuff is often more for thrill! It can be tempting sometimes to get upset and bid even higher to edge out your competition to win that auction. It's painful sometimes to just let those auctions go. :) I pick a price and bid. If I win, I win, if not, there will be another.

I have however "overpaid/overbid" for ponies because *that* one had perfect hair, was immaculate or came from a beautiful childhood collection- I'm a sucker for buying things from original owners. Some of these were super common ponies, but if I'm happy at the end, it's my entertainment money well spent. :D

congrats on your Spike :) i know all about getting caught up in the bidding and maybe overspending a little (or a lot sometimes..... ) for a pony, but the guilt passes and you just end up enjoying your pony ^^
