Let's hear some hot takes!

Maybe not exactly a hot take, but G5 is better than G4 even if you count it as it’s own thing, not a “continuation”, both toy-wise and series-wise. Now, if only G5 didn’t stick to the tiny half-molded-half-brushable ponies and made more of the bigger ponies like that Amazon set, then maybe they’d be more popular…

I agree.

Sure, call backs and references are fun but when it gets to the point where it gets so much you have no idea what’s going on or missing parts of a story from it or not understanding what’s happening because you’d need to be in the know, that’s when it gets… yeah. It feels like so many franchises these days want to jump on the extended universe bandwagon thing now. Or making things that was never supposed to be an extended universe be one

I do miss when MLP toylines were primarily all brushable and not just half brushable

Yeah!! I feel like G5 undoing the entire premise G4 built of “living in harmony” was.. not the right move at all. They could’ve easily just made the new gen in a completely new setting and keep the same plot WITHOUT bringing up Twilight/the old Mane 6 and everything would’ve been fine. But nooooo, they just *had* to bring up the same ponies we’ve been familiar with for 10 years again to “pull people in” when it could’ve done so well without. Why not give them a little rest? :\

Honestly? I lowkey miss it when the biggest problem the ponies had was painting the town pink instead of being forced to fight overpowered beings with ulterior motives, but it might just be me and the nostalgia speaking
At least the brushable dragons look cool…

We’ve seen a variation of Applejack in each gen (going to count G2 Apple Meadow or Apple Pie in that too for theme) or three different versions of Moondancer and they’ve all been able to be very different or remain looking almost/mainly the same and they didn’t have any connections whatsoever. It shows it’s possible

Apple Pie isn't Applejack. It's like saying that Goody Gumdrop is Sweet Stuff because they both have gumdrop symbols. I don't think there's been a single pony who has ever popped in every gen. Which is the way it should be.

The basic g4 size is too small! I prefer the, what are they called, styling size, which are roughly the same size as the g1s. At the same time if time if all the g4s were that size they would take up so much more space I guess. But the G4s are so easily knock-over-able or “prone to flight”
plus it’s hard to do stuff with their hair because they are harder to hold on to with their tiny pony bodies!

I just imagined someone pulling them back in a sling shot

I don't like the Big Brother molds and I wish they'd just used the "female" molds for male ponies. Male horses might be a little more muscular than female horses but they don't look that different, aside from having a horse wiener.

They look so dumb, too. Something about the eye placement. No thoughts, head empty. I guess himbos are popular right now so maybe they somehow anticipated that.

Really? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they don’t like the big brothers before
I like them because of their fluffy hooves ^_^

I stan the himbo ponies

I actually wish they had used the Big Brother mold for girls and boys. Where are my lady draft horses (ponies)?

Oooh I've got one.. I really can't stand the G1 rainbow ponies... don't know why.. they're just really bland and not special at all to me

but they always show up on so much of the merch whenever mlp has a collaboration with any other brand nowadays its craazy

I always played the ponies in Gingerbread's pose as boys. I only had Party Time & Sky Rocket in that pose and idk why but they always seemed more masculine to me

I totally thought Party Time was a big brother when I first saw a pick of her, I think that particular pose just feels a bit bulkier or something
