Lickety Split in FIM!!!

Yes I saw that too! I even had to back it up to see if I heard right. To see if Spike was really was calling that Brown Boy pony Lickety Split!! I couldn't believe Hasbro would do that, :eeek: knowing that it might upset collectors. I'm all for Hasbro finally giving us boy ponies again :allecto: But surely they could have come up with a different name for him. Or they could have at least used a girl pony for that clip.
 
I'm sorry, but Ringlet and Gypsy Nights. But you really need to not read so much into a cartoon that's geared towards little girls. Might I recommend getting a job... and maybe a different hobby if this upsets you so much.

I saw the episode in question & found myself super excited to see a boy Lickety. I've done as others have suggested & picture it's the babies of the ponies I love so much, then continued the name tradition.

Kinda like "old" 90's version Bev Hills 90210, which I loved oh so much. I watched the "current/new" series & there are several references to the "old" show like Kelly Taylor's lil baby sister "Erin Silver" is on the shows...she's just "Silver" now.

Getting old & having those shows ya loved so much continue on, showing ya that yes - time indeed marches on...it's a bummer, but I love 'em anyway :tongue:
 
I look at this this way. My name is Shannon. There were people 30 years ago named Shannon.....before I was ever born. Does that mean I don't have a right to have my name? Should people who loved the Shannon of 30 years ago hate me because I am also named Shannon. Also, historicly, Shannon is a boy's name.....and I am a girl.

Exactly! There are two Baby Cuddles in the G1 line, 4 Baby Embers... this is just yet again some "Oldschool" collector getting in a tizzy over the new show not being 100% to their vision.

For the record, my name is also Shannon. ;) I always forget yours is too, Josie, because in my head I always call you "Josie," even though I totally know that isn't your name.

I can deal with him being a boy, as long as there is no pink. i hated lickety split because she is way too much pinkness for my brain to handle. Ditto on cotton candy

I think they just lost the rights to the designs of the ponies not their names. However that doesnt explain why there is still an AJ with the same design as the original.

they managed to retain the rights to applejack and spike. from what I've heard, anyways.
