I'm making this topic on a total whim, haha. And actually, the question should be more along the lines of "worth the trouble or not". Anyway:
I'm working towards making a comic, and there's going to be this ancient civilization in it. Long story short, I'm kind of struggling with whether I should bother coming up with a made-up language for it.
On one hand, it would make it unique and interesting if I manage to do it right, not to mention giving it an added layer of "realness". But on the other hand, it'll be SO MUCH WORK and would take so much time and effort that maybe could be used elsewhere.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you like made-up languages in fiction? Do you remember well or badly done examples in works that you've seen? What would you rather do in this situation?
