Mimic

She's not, really. She's "sought after." Which means, everyone wants her, and that drives her price up.

She was released in the second set of TE ponies, which are generally harder to find anyway, but there are always a couple for sale on ebay and the boards.
 
She is common, but everyone likes to have her for some reason. She is not easy to buy when the majority wants to keep her. But she does pop up for sale every now and again.

So that is why her price went up over the years.

also to mention is that Mimic and Locket were the only 2 TE´s from the second set who made it to the episodes..... and I think that is why they are so wanted.... and besides, which girl would like to buy a green pony? I guess she wasn´t sold as much as Locket.... even if she isn´t that rare....
 
she's not my fav by a long shot. but yeah i keep her cause i'm likley not to find another... not for $2 anyway.
 
Also I remember that for a couple years there was one Ebay user who would buy every Mimic that came up, no matter the price. She still pops up from time to time.

Looks like someone's successfully monopolizing the Mimics and driving up the price. ;) Once she gets them all she can just trickle out one to sell every once in a while and make a fortune. *conspiracy theories*
