Please tell me this is the same Starshine and not a sneaky Basic Fun swap. This is amazing!!

so, i just got a lot of ponies at once to work on, so i figured i'd make a thread like some of y'all have to show off progress instead of making individual posts.

these gals and guy arrived today in a lot i got pretty cheap. they're all dirty, have cut hair, tail washer rattles, glitter loss, the works. i'll be adding 7 of them into my collection and selling the rest to new homes once they're fixed up.

i've had these two for a bit; they've needed some work and i haven't gotten to them for now. no before pic of boysenberry pie, cause i'm good at remembering to take pics of the before /s  mostly going to see if i can brighten her up a bit, she is very grayish purple and sad.

last of the bunch is my roommate's chief. she got him a very long time ago and she eventually threw him into the bait bin but we were talking about restoration stuff and she asked me to try my hand with him. he's going to be my guinea pig with my new UV light box. i've already cracked him open and took out his (very rusty) tail for treatment.

poor boy has been through the wringer.
What did you use to cover up Boysenberry’s symbol? I need tips on protecting a symbol during sunfading beside tape.

Not minticat (she probably knows more than I do!) but I apply cheap white acryllic paint to their symbols and it wipes off with just water.
this is correct!! water and elbow grease or some rubbing alcohol, which is safe on pony paint.
Is it just white acrylic paint you use to cover?
I’m having trouble keeping some edges of my masking tape down on Puzzlemint because I am worried about somehow staining the pony with paint or somehow lightening the symbols and eyes with the white pigment  I feel the acrylic paint would make covering a lot easier though…

White Water Washable Paint, the cheap stuff. Dollar stores usually have this. Sometimes I have to re-apply since it does crack and flake off in the heat. Comes off easily in water.
I have no issues using blue painter's tape, but the yellow tape tend to get sticky on the pony.
Alternatively, I've started using blue tak and it seems to do the job well.

Thanks, I’ll see if I have any blue tak! If I don’t I’ll use the paint

blue tak sounds super smart! i'll have to try this in the future, thanks for the tip

It's worth noting that recently someone had blue painter's tape dye their pony, so use with caution!

I remember seeing that, can't find the thread again. I may be wrong but I think that person left it on for months? Far too long. Tape isn't meant to be on for too long either. but yes, as with anything, always with caution!
