Minty with green and white hair.

Am I real?

She is being sold on a certain auction site. I can't help being suspicious. That color looks very wrong on her. I never heard of a greenhaired Minty before. I do remember seeing some merchandise with a greenhaired Minty. I *think* my Aussie Pinkie Pie & hair assecories set even has a drawing of her on the back. Not sure though...

shecould have been one of the VERY VERY early g3's prototype things.. but if i remember corrrectly, someone got sent a promo rainbow dash and it had a pink fluffy handle for the package..

that's an obvious rehair. look how straight the hair is. every MLP, even the early promo ones, had curled hair in the box. her hair is just stick-straight. it also looks a bit short to be the original hair. and yeah, that color green looks terrible.

EDIT: also, there's no tinsel in the green sections, but tinsel in the white sections.

Here is an early picture of Minty with the non-pink hair, which has been topic of dicussion in the past. I have never seen or heard of one like that, though. I agree my first thought is the hair looks too stiff, but what do I know? *shrugs*

Hold on. Is it just me or is the box platic BACKWARDS? The little flippy thing is on the front instead of on the back

While I am not sure, I think I read somewhere that the first G3's from the first year of release (2003) have boxes that open in the front. This would include the original G3 Minty. Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, the first G3 boxes were "backward" like that. They also encompassed the whole backcard/nameplate contraption.

I have some doubts that she's an actual prototype, though. I can't put my finger on it, but something about her seems off...

Thanks for that picture silverfall. I don't remember that one. She's different like that. :D I like it, but that's about all the input I have for it.

Yeah, like, no way could Hasbro have created something with such a vibrant color

Where's the white stripe that would be in the forelock? Stealing from ponytopia:

Ooooh! Remember when they had a picture of Minty with green hair before the G3s came out? :) Maybe that's her prototype! Didn't know she existed!

I was wondering if the hair was dyed green over (faded?) pink. It is definitely a first edition Minty (her hoof heart is on the wrong side, and her mints are that dark red) but that's not how I remember factory-fresh hair looking. The plastic-in-front packaging WAS pretty easy to get into without leaving tampering traces... :|

I'd like to see the backside of the box. If it has a picture of Minty with green hair, I could accept it maybe being a prototype. If it shows a pic of regular pink haired Minty . . . nuh uh.

Edit: Also, if the seller is located in China and has had prototypes for sale before, that would make it more credible. I know at least one person there has put legitimate prototypes up for bid . . . Usually not dramatically different, just Gardenia Glow with different color paint on one part of her symbol or something like that. And those blank-eyed prototypes.

it's really hard to tell, i mean her green hair DOES look rehaired, but the packaging, especially where her feet go into the plastic just doesnt look tampered with. someone should just buy her and let's ALL find out the truth, lmao

I remember seeing both types (plastic in front and plastic in back) of early packaging with the lid open in the store. It was all to do with how close the shelves were - the stores which had the problem, had the shelves very close together - it was very hard to get the ponies off them. The packaging was mint otherwise, and the ponies were untampered with. There was too many ponies like that for it to be someone returning an unwanted pony. So if someone was very careful at home (or had purchased an lid opened pony in the first place) they could easily fiddled with the hair without removing the pony from the box.

I declare a rehair! The green stripes in her mane appear to be a different texture than the white stripes signifying they have been altered. It doesn't look like pony hair rather doll hair. I doubt that she is a prototype.

The hair looks like it is taken from a cheap doll or something like that ...
