And by 'pic heavy' I mean heavy enough to punch a hole through the world! XD
Hey, I don't post much on the TP, sadly I haven't had the time to be as involved with the pony community as a whole for a while, but I thought I'd share these with you.
I've got a stall at the upcoming PonyCon and I've decided to make some MLP jewellery to sell, and these are the prototypes! I had the idea for these years ago but only got round to starting how to make them a reality a few weeks ago. There's four different styles, all directly based on G1 ponies (1,000 Pony Geek Points if you can guess what ponies I used ) and there's three different mediums; resin, solid apoxie sculpt and half resin/half clay with an image in between.
Enough of the blah, onto the jewellery!
This style of wing I've been thinking of as 'demure, these are resin on a silver chain. They look weird with the flash, but my room's too dark to not use one!
This is another 'demure' wing, but this one is a half-and-half with an abstract floral design inset in the wing. They clay backing is painted pink and it's on a pink organza jewellery ribbon.
Another half-and-half, this one in the largest style of wing, that I've been thinking of as 'dynamic'. The inset image is a colourful abstract and the backs of the wings are painted a deep purple. The right middle pic shows the seam between resin and clay - nice and neat and straight!
These are the second smallest style of wing, that I've been calling 'dainty'. They're resin and set on a hand-made 'web' style necklace, embellished with clear crackle beads.
These are solid apoxie sculpt wings, in the 'dynamic' style. The photos don't do these justice; they're jet black and SUPER glossy in the flesh. They're on a black organza jewellery ribbon.
The smallest wings! This is a half-and-half with a ladybird design on a white background, the back of the wing is a matching red and it's on a red cord.
These are also resin demure wings, but these are embedded with very thick pink glitter. The pics don't capture the sparkle!
The smallest wings again, this time in resin with a simple silver wire design embellishment. Yay earrings!
Same style of wing, this one's solid clay and painted a matte cobalt blue (MANLY!), modeled by my boyfriend, who officially fell in love with it and wore it to work today
Gratuitous arty shot of my boyfriend, cause he's beautiful and I love the composition. On the right is Baby Bouncy modeling a pair of the smallest wings in resin, a solid clay pair of demure wings painted matte white, a resin demure wing with a glitter coating and a second shot of the matte white wings.
A pair of half-and-half dainties with Fluttershy's cutie mark (the flash SLAUGHTERED these wings, they look 10 times better in the flesh), a pair of solid clay dainties painted silver, a resin pair of dynamics with multi-coloured embedded glitter and a suspended pink star (all wire and findings I use is silver-plated, BTW), a slightly better shot of a Fluttershy wing and a resin pair of dainties, embedded with purple micro-tinsel that is very sparly in real life but is completely sparkle-less in the shot!
AND FINALLY (phew) I forgot to put this shot in with a group. It's a resin demure embedded with hand-made skull charmlettes. The square in the top right corner is a size ref with my little fingernail. Each skull is about 1/3 of the size of my nail - really wee!
Oh my gosh, that's a lot of prototypes (I love saying 'prototypes' - it makes me feel like a scientist). I'm now starting to make pieces to sell at the PonyCon, now that I've honed my methods. ANY crits or suggestions/feedback of any kind would be very welcome!
I might open up for commissions, but I've never done anything like that before, so any tips would be awesome.
CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
mobile phone charms
G4-style wings (tricky)
brooches

If you'd like to be signed up on my mailing list, to hear if I open for commissions or get an Etsy shop, or you want to get a look at the Friendship is Magic style wings when they're done, or you're just nosy and are curious to see what I come up with either:

post your username in bold!
And if I do open up for sales (which is looking more and more likely) everyone on my mailing list will be sent a 10% off voucher
