I feel your pain. If there is one in Texas, then I will pick ya up and we will ride off into the sunset !

It seems as though the smartest way to go into downtown chicago from the hotel would be via public transit, due to traffic and parking. I like to be able to just drive around and explore, but somehow don't think that will be practical in the big city :coolpony:. Will look for those apps, thanks for the tip, @brighteyes !

No problem! Driving in downtown Chicago is not fun if you aren't used to it- the Dan Ryan can be white knuckle inducing. But, if you have a navigation app or a GPS for your car, it's totally doable. Just know that if you get pushed onto a road you didn't want to take because you couldn't get over in time, it's not a big deal. You can always get back to the road you want, especially downtown. Though GPS does screw up downtown sometimes because of the tall buildings. Still, there are a lot of neat places to go and Lakeshore Drive is gorgeous. Finding parking can be a pain though.

If you decide to take the CTA, you can use it to get to pretty much any place you'd like to go- from Lincoln Park Zoo to the museum campus (where Shedd and Field Museum of Natural History are) to downtown and back. It's safe during the day, but I'd rather not ride alone at night. In a group it's okay, but I'm always hearing reports of people being mugged or assaulted on the L when riding late at night, especially the red line.
