I have a pony I'm working on that's just about finished; she only needs her eyes painted and her accessories put together. However, I'm running into an issue.

This is an earlier progress photo, but it'll give you an idea of my problem. See all those little bumps all over her? I used a puff paint that claims it sticks to plastics to create those, but now they're all pealing off the orange (unpainted) surface. I thought maybe I could use some kind of topcoat like modge podge to paint the entire pony and seal them in, but I didn't know if modge podge would even work or if there was some other alternative. She's turning out so cute that I'd hate to ruin her.

I'm heading to the art supply store at 3 today before work to grab something (so 3 hours from now), so if anyone's got any tips for me I'd appreciate it.

Got 2 others in the works as well, so with any luck I'll have some actual finished ponies to show soon :D Hooray!

OK WOW. Gila Monster pony (or beaded lizard, depending on what species you were going for) definitly amaizing. I have a friend who breeds those lizards and they are really really neat.

I would do a test run w/ it. Maybe the gloss version considering they are a glossyish lizard. but maybe take some dots of the puff paint and lay them on a test sheet of paper (Maybe a thick paperplate) and then coat it and let it dry.

I use the non gloss modge podge on my ponies that I do seal. When I want an ultra smooth crystal clear finish thats super glossy I use Triple Thick Gloss. Just be careful about handling TOO much after its harddend it has a bad case of cracking if too much force is applied---IE: I selaed a pony before putting the head on and the gloss cracked and it took me a week to fix. Its also what I use to seal my eyeballs for that super wet look.

I think if you use 2-3 coats you shouldn't have an issue with them falling off, you remember in the future about the puffy pain(t) *grin*

Hope that helped.

So may I ask is the Gila a commision or will she be for sale? *nudge nudge wink wink*

FOR THE HORDE!!!!! (sorry I had a look around furaffinity *giggle*)

Thanks for the advice! I didn't know what type of surface I wanted, so I grabbed 1 small tube each of the matte and gloss finishes. I'll test them to see how they look and go from there.

And yes, the gila pony will be for sale. I haven't set a price for her, so more than likely I'll pop her on eBay and hope for the best. :)

hhrmmm scrumptious! I can't wait to pounce on that ebay auction then, but if you change your mind about ebay *points to face* I would love to has a lizard on mai customs shelf. Specially by you :-D cause your art roxors!

Definitly hope it works out for ya.

Ooh I remember this WIP pics from a little while ago, this pony is so cool!
I hope the mod podge works out well for you, I am thinking it should work for what you're trying to do! If I wanted to do this same thing, mod podge is definitely the first thing I would try as well.
