Hey, everyone! I've been enjoying doing alternative rehairs and people just love it on my socials. I'm pleasantly surprised. As an artist, who for many years tried to "get myself out there" but never seemed able to liftoff, I'm honestly taken back by the fact that people are always asking if they can buy my ponies. After turning down several interested offers, I finally had one offer on a pony I had that wasn't for me per se and was happy to give a quote. To my delight I've been commissioned for my first rehair! A beautiful violet Remco unicorn with purple and green hair. How exciting. I shall use those funds to buy more ponies and hair! A birthday gift for a granddaughter of a co-worker. Yay! How unexpected! Thank you for delighting with me.
:merriweather:

I'm sure you'll make that lil girl very happy.

Thanks all! I'm really excited about it! I'm making sure her head really stays on while the glue cures. And I'm letting her style. Can I hear set these curls with a bow dryer, or is just best to let them sit with curlers? I want the curls to stay in as best as possible. Thoughts?

Gorgeous! Congrats on the first rehair sale! I hope to see many more in the future- your work is excellent!

For tight curls I let my pony dry on top of a warm radiator grill. I think if you set them with boiling water it has a similar effect?

That's fantastic! :D It always feels good to make your first sale, congrats!

Congrats on the sale! That’s awesome :D
I’m not sure which way would hold the curls best though

New technique for those of us without a radiator:
Inspired by old timey hair dryers: It was on low, and I babysat it but I'm hopeful it set the curls. Gave that girl a perm! Seemed to work really well.

Haha! That's great! The old salon bubble dryers, wow..
She looks much cuter with the hair you gave her! Though I always think those fakies look like they're reaching for a much needed cup of coffee. And the one in the back is just plotting something. :hmph:

I often wonder who were the sculptors who first shaped these horses. Of some Hasbro ponies we know the sculptors and they're still in the business but I don't know if we have any info at all about the fakies, even though they're still everywhere!

Yes!!! I could not think of the word for it! Thank you @Jellybean! And thank you! I made her colors similar to a Lily altrehair that I did.

I found those "Plotting Unicorns" for extremely cheap at one of my favorite eBay stores. They do look up to no good, don't they!? I wanted as many friends to rehair as possible!
I did Lily with Amethyst to sour grapes(light to dark going towards the center) so I wanted to switch up Violet Remy so she got Sour grapes to amethyst(dark to light) Lily is mine, so I'll always have a momento of Violet. The little girl who received her adores her! More pics of Lily to come. She's still got her curlers in!

Alternate rehairs are so much fun! I love taking a girl with tragic hair and giving her a bright new look. And these are looking great!

These gradients are so cool!!
I was delighted to find out I loved the dark to light after doing light to dark first. There's so much fun to be had in experimentation! I was telling @cowbrain I use incollage to plan and it's really helped me pick the right colors for the looks I'm going for. It's a free app with ads with lots of layouts. I'm in no way affiliated with them, I've just tried a few and this one fit the bill best. I started with planning Lily... Who due to life events being hectic STILL has her curlers in  It worked for this Violet Remy just as fine!

Congratulations on your first sale! Your ponies all look so pretty, I’ve seen your threads and I love the colours. Adding the gradients really make those colours pop!

Having the curlers in for so long, I can imagine those curls are going to be really strong when you finally take them out
