Finally haired my first Bowtie! :blue:
It was also my first attempt using Amazon purchased hair on an MLP. They called it Korean Milk Silk Doll Hair, and while shorter than hanks of standard pony hair, I found it entirely serviceable. Some breakage where I made plugs too large. Boil permed for gorgeous, tight curls. I had to hold the curls down with a little rubber band. It was my first time blending the milk silk with nylon pony hair. I used metallic blush pink from the doll planet for the highlights. Though not the same texture or quality as nylon pony hair, imo milk silk doll hair is great for someone on a budget that wants to rehair. Would buy again! Glad I gave it a go. If anyone wants to know the brand I can look it up.

Interesting, so it's like wig fiber hair but for dolls? Maybe not, wig fiber is usually pretty stiff at that scale.
Bow-tie looks fiery now! I kind of want to see her next to Barnacle! XD

Ohh it's a bit stiff, they'd have "curl hawks" if I didn't use rubber bands to hold it down. Lol But I found it too be very workable. It's definitely a different texture but it held up well even with the floss method. I did try wig hair recently, and tested it on a duck. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. This doll hair held up considerably better than the wig that I tried but wigs vary I suppose. Plus it's a ton of hair for $14, 5 wefts but it's only 11.8 inches long and needs cut from the weft. It felt right for standard mane length. I want to order more and see what I can do!

She looks great! I've often wondered about doll hair on Amazon. Maybe I should just take the plunge and try some like you did! :redheart:
As long as you don't mind the texture being a little stiffer, and the length being shorter than standard pony hair(but it seems perfect for pony hair length) or cutting it from the weft, give it a go! I'd recommend doing starting with one to see if you like it. I added a bunch of them to my Xmas wishlist! It's great for people rehairing on a dime.
I keep waiting to see if their curls sag, but so far they're holding up really well! it's funny, the metallic pony hair is drooping a little bit the milk silk curls are still tight!
