I thought I'd share this with everyone. I have no idea how many of you remember this but back in the 80's Hasbro held a contest to see who had the most ponies. I have a newspaper clipping showing the winner and her ponies. I've always wondered if the little girl is still around or still has her collection. Here is a scan of the newspaper clipping I have:

I remember entering but I don't think I had 367 at that time.

That's very cool! She had a lot of ponies! I hope she still has them today. What a great memory for her!

I always wished I was that girl. I kinda remember the contest because I was probably her same age if not older. Very cool that you found this and shared it. I hope we find this girl and she still collects. At least she could appreciate our love of ponies still.

It would be awesome, if she still collects!
We have to find out where mlp mom is!

Also we could make a contest for the 2012 mlp mom or dad!
Participants should prove the number of their ponies in one photo!

Man, I was... 5 and a half at that time. Wow... I don't even remember if I ever actually had My Little Ponies growing up, which is sad because I was born in 83, which makes them just about the same age as me *lol* I have a friend who has 200 of them, wish I had that many! I'm only up to 72!

If they did that contest now they'd probably have to send someone around to verify the numbers cause I know quite a few collectors who have huge collections; because the numbers now are probably up to and past the thousand mark for some folks :)
:sunny:

that is so cool looking

my mother still tells me all the time "if i had only known what would happen after i gave you the first one" ..... then she trails off in wistfull wishing LOL

Wow I was 5 then, I had quite a few ponies but not that many. We moved around a lot and I lost all but one over those years...sigh...memories

I was 7 at the time, but I don't remember seeing anything about this contest. Really cool though! She would have beat me too, my collection was big but not that big at 7. Morgan, are you still out there!?

I was only 1 when this article was run, so I didn't have any ponies. I actually never had ponies growing up. Sad, I know.

Really cool that you kept the article!

Ha ha, how cool! I wasn`t even born yet... She sure does have a lot! It would be cool if she was still collecting after all these years!

I was -6 (lol) when they did this article. Sadly, even if it had been a few years later, I would have had no ponies to speak of. I got my first pony last year :/ What a sad, sad childhood lol

I would have been just shy of 8 years old at that time. I vaguely remember the contest being advertised, but I'm sure I never entered. When MLP stopped its original run in '92 or so I had around 120 ponies & almost all of the unique play sets (ie only pink Dream Castle, Home Sweet Home stable but not Show Stable or Megan's Place, ect.)

I was 12 when this article was published. I didn't know about the contest. My ponies were packed away and I was probably off listening to a NKOTB tape. lol

I wonder where she is today and if those ponies are boxed up somewhere??

That looks like an awesome contest. I would of loved to join that contest. However, at the time I gave up my ponies. Maybe that year or the next I can't remember.

367 is actually not that much considering some of us. *coughcoughJewelcoughcough* ;)

I would love to be this kids friend XD and then she would give them to me now ahahaha...

What would a girl do with so many ponies?! :p She looks very happy! I'd be too to be spoiled like that!! (And boy do the colours look lovely together.. I wonder which was her favourite)

I also wonder if Hasbro would hold another competition like this? Now that the popularities back up again?
