Need MLP Storage Suggestions

For sure avoid storing them with any kind of fabric or plastic clothing on and also don't use newpaper to wrap them in--all of the above may stain the ponies over time. I store my extra ponies in clear plastic baggies in plastic totes, but avoid colored plastic baggies--another possible way for them to get stained.

Direct sunlight can fade ponies, paint, and pony hair. Even indirect light can be bad, so best to keep them away from light when storing them.

Storing in damp areas can cause mold issues.

I highly recommend plastic tubs or totes over cardboard boxes. Cardboard absorbs moisture and holds it, and you can get mold or moisture damage even in an area you think is dry. Some of my childhood herd (and a number of other toys) acquired mold spots while stored in a cardboard box in the closet of a spare bedroom. You'd be surprised when and where moisture can creep in. Admittedly, this is a regional issue, too. The moisture problem I experienced happened in Idaho; I doubt it would happen here in the Arizona desert, though I still don't keep anything in cardboard anymore, just in case.

Also--Toss in some of those moisture-absorbing gel packs that often come inside new handbags or shoeboxes and with some medicines (etcetc, all kinds of things come with them), or purchase some at a craft store (pretty sure they're not terribly expensive, but I've never bought them, so am not certain).

If you wanted, you could get Mylar storage bags, designed for storing comic books, to place Ponies in. They don't have acids in them like freezer/storage bags do.

Make sure to wrap up each pony's mane and tail around its legs to keep it looking nice. Ponies just thrown in willy nilly tend to come out with bad hair days. I'd also recommend taking out any braids that you don't want in permanently as they will not be easy to take out after long storage. I think it'd be good if you wrapped the ponies in white tissue paper and then put them in separate bags. This way they are cushioned to prevent squishing of legs and the plastic won't melt onto them should they experience any heat.
